Chris Pine’s Full-Frontal ‘Outlaw King’ Scene is a Jaw-Dropper

The Toronto International Film Festival kicked off in earnest on Thursday night, with the opening-night selection Outlaw King, the upcoming Netflix movie starring Chris Pine as historical Scottish warrior-king Robert the Bruce. It’s an extravagantly wild and brutal and bloody film full of Scottish clans clashing with each other and the English forces under King Edward I (Stephen Dillane).

…But all anybody wanted to talk about after the rather lengthy premiere (it’s a good movie but a long one) was the shot midway through the film where Pine emerges from bathing in shallow water to be rather shockingly naked. Bits and all!

Full frontal nudity is a rarity among Chris-kind, and surely will give Pine the leg (or some other body part) up on his rivals Evans, Hemsworth, and Pratt. Earlier in the film, we also see Pine’s butt during a sex scene with co-star Florence Pugh as Robert’s wife Elizabeth.

Now, there were questions flying about the after-parties about whether the brief flash of Chris’s pine might have been a bit of digital trickery. But second-hand accounts from the premiere screening mentioned that Pine was shielding his eyes at That Scene, which feels like a point in the It Was Real column.

In case you’re not familiar, by the way, the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival is the unofficial kickoff to fall movie season. Oscar hopefuls abound as film critics and festival-goers get their first look at the movies we’re going to be seeing, talking about, and squabbling over for the next several months. And with Netflix showing up with EIGHT movies and Amazon Studios with four features plus one TV series premiere, Toronto is delivering quite the preview for what you’ll be streaming this fall.
