‘Ozark’ Season 3: Everything We Know So Far

After another year, things still aren’t looking up for the Byrde family. Ozark Season 2 saw Marty (Jason Bateman) and Wendy (Laura Linney) dodging more schemes from conniving crime families, more ruthless FBI agents, and making more deals with questionable allies. There are a lot of questions we have left about this crime drama, but one stands above the rest — what’s going to happen in Season 3?

Only Netflix and the Ozark team know the full answer to this, but we can always keep track of casting and renewal notices. And of course there’s room for old-fashioned wild speculation. Consider this your ongoing guide to everything we know about Ozark Season 3.

Will there be an Ozark Season 3?

You bet there will. Jason Bateman’s Twitter account confirmed our hopes; Ozark is coming back. Season 3 will have 10 episodes, just like Seasons 1 and 2.

How many seasons of Ozark will there be?

Just because Ozark hasn’t gotten a Season 3 renewal yet that doesn’t mean the show’s team hasn’t been thinking about the future. Showrunner Chris Mundy told The Hollywood Reporter that they have discussed ending after four to six seasons. “It’s always felt like that’s a good number to tell the story,” he said.

What could happen in Ozark Season 3?

A whole lot. (Season 1 and 2 spoilers ahead)

After spending a season committed to fleeing Missouri the second the casino is operational, the last moments of Season 2 saw Wendy change her mind. She no longer wants to run away to Australia but instead wants to stay in the Ozarks and continue cleaning up their dirty operation. But what Wendy isn’t telling her husband is that leaving may be completely off the table at this point. Afraid that Ruth’s father Cade (Trevor Long) would hurt the operation, Ruth (Julia Garner), and her family, Wendy took a hit out on him through the Nevarro cartel. That means she owes the cartel one, and a happy cartel may be a scarier prospect than an enraged one.

But the Ozarks definitely aren’t where the Byrde family wants to be. Sure Ruth is decidedly on Marty and Wendy’s side and Darlene (Lisa Emery) has calmed down, but then there’s the Kansas City mob. Marty promised them that the casino would be a union-built operation only to go back on his word in order to get it built. Now the mob is furious with them and destroyed Marty’s office building to prove it. If there’s anything Fargo, another excellent crime drama, has taught us it’s don’t mess with Kansas City.

Those are the two main threats that could be part of Season 3. But there’s are lots of other loose ends to worry about like Ruth’s takeover of the books, Darlene’s new baby, and Charlotte’s (Sofia Hublitz) impending emancipation from her parents. Who knows exactly where Season 3 will take us, but it’s going to be a fun ride.
