‘American Horror Story: Apocalypse’: Who’s Dead? Who’s Alive? Who’s Undead?

**Jessica Lange**
**Who did she play?:** Constance Langdon and Fiona Goode
**Which seasons did she appear in?:** *Murder House* and *Coven*
**Who will she play in *Apocalypse*?:** As fierce as Fiona Goode was, it doesn't seem like Lange will be reprising her role as the former Supreme of the Salem coven. After the end of the season, Fiona died of cancer and was forced to live in her own personal hell. But Lange's other fearsome lady, Constance Langdon, is still alive and kicking.

The mother of Tate Langdon, Constance was a controlling and abusive mother from Day 1, which is fitting because she ended *Murder House* by stealing the baby antichrist. **Sarah Paulson**
**Who did she play (from left to right)?:** Billie Dean Howard and Cordelia Foxx/Goode
**Which seasons did she appear in?:** *Murder House* and *Coven*
**Who will she play in *Apocalypse*?:** Oh so many people. It should be no surprise to *AHS* fans that the series' power player is going to be juggling a lot. Not only is Paulson scheduled to return as *Murder House*'s chain-smoking psychic Billie Dean Howard and *Coven*'s newly appointed Supreme Cordelia Goode, but this season will be bringing us a whole new Paulson character. Meet Wilhelmina Venable.

**Evan Peters**
**Who did he play?:** Tate Langdon and Kyle Spencer
**Which seasons did he appear in?:** *Murder House* and *Coven*
**Who will he play in *Apocalypse*?:** Peters will be reprising one of his most memorable and creepiest roles to date, that of the undead school shooter Tate Langdon. Tate was trapped at the Murder House after killing himself. He was the one who donned the gimp suit and impregnated Vivien while he was semi-dating her daughter Violet. He's a pretty messed up guy, and it looks like he's the father of the antichrist.

But don't fret, lovers of Frankenstein-esque sidekicks. Taissa Farmiga will be reprising both her *Murder House* and *Coven* roles, so there's a good chance we may see her undead boyfriend and bodyguard Kyle again. Photo: FX

**Taissa Farmiga**
**Who did she play (from left to right)?:** Violet Harmon and Zoe Benson
**Which seasons did she appear in?:** *Murder House* and *Coven*
**Who will she play in *Apocalypse*?:** We're getting double the Farmiga. The actress will be reprising her role as the haunted Harmon family's angsty and undead daughter Violet as well as one of *Coven*'s most confident and morally-focused witches, Zoe Benson.

**Lily Rabe**
**Who did she play?:** Nora Montgomery and Misty Day
**Which seasons did she appear in?:** *Murder House* and *Coven*
**Who will she play in *Apocalypse*?:** Season 1's beautifully tragic Nora may be resigned to an eternity of childless torture, but our favorite earthy witch is coming back. Misty Day, the sweet, country-loving witch who was able to bring people and animals back from beyond the grave, is slated to return.

This is big news because *Coven* left Misty Day in a less-than-ideal place. While taking the test of the Seven Wonders to see who would become the next Supreme, Misty got stuck in her own personal hell of dissecting an innocent frog. It was implied that she would always be stuck in that state, but thanks to the end of the world, it sounds like she's free.Photo: Everett Collection

**Frances Conroy**
**Who did she play (from left to right)?:** Moira O'Hare and Myrtle Snow
**Which seasons did she appear in?:** *Murder House* and *Coven*
**Who will she play in *Apocalypse*?:** Season 1's deceptively sexy housekeeper is out and the all knowing head witch with a killer fashion sense is in. The return of Myrtle is especially interesting because she hasn't just died once in this show. She's been burned at the stake on two separate occasions, one of which was voluntary. **Connie Britton**
**Who did she play?:** Vivien Harmon
**Which seasons did she appear in?:** *Murder House*
**Who will she play in *Apocalypse*?:** Britton only stared in one season of *AHS* but she made an impact. She'll be reprising her role as Vivien, the innocent mother who was tricked into giving birth to the antichirst with her daughter's ghost boyfriend.Photo: Everett Collection

**Dylan McDermott**
**Who did he play (from left to right)?:** Ben Harmon
**Which seasons did he appear in?:** *Murder House*
**Who will he play in *Apocalypse*?:** McDermott will be returning as the second worst therapist in this show's history, Dr. Ben Harmon. After having an affair with a former student, Ben tore his family apart. But that doesn't exactly mean he deserved watching his daughter and wife die. He was killed at the end of the season when his undead former student, Hayden, murdered him. Photo: Everett Collection

**Adina Porter**
**Who did she play (from left to right)?:** Sally Freeman
**Which seasons did she appear in?:** *Murder House*
**Who will she play in *Apocalypse*?:** Porter had a brief role in the show's first season as one of Ben's patients. Sally was a woman who feared she was too boring to sustain her marriage. She ultimately attempted to kill herself in an attempt to get her bored therapist's attention, but she didn't die.

But this season will be taking on a new role, that of Dinah Stevens. Not much is known about Dinah. At TCA the actress said the character was "lovely" and that you would have her over for tea. Photo: FX

**Kathy Bates**
**Who did she play?:** Delphine LaLaurie
**Which seasons did she appear in?:** *Coven*
**Who will she play in *Apocalypse*?:** After spending most of *Coven* as a racist, bodiless head, Delphine later completely died and was sent to her own personal hell.

**Emma Roberts**
**Who did she play?:** Madison Montgomery
**Which seasons did she appear in?:** *Coven*
**Who will she play in *Apocalypse*?:** The bitchiest witch in the coven is coming back into our lives. Madison made a big impact throughout her season and went out with a bang. After intentionally failing to save Zoe, she was strangled to death by her enraged undead boyfriend Kyle. But now she's back, you cowards. Photo: Everett Collection

**Gabourey Sidibe**
**Who did she play (from left to right)?:** Queenie
**Which seasons did she appear in?:** *Coven*
**Who will she play in *Apocalypse*?:** A member of the witch's council who can use her own body as a voodoo doll, Queenie has the rare distinction of being one of the only characters to appear in three different seasons. **Stevie Nicks**
**Who did she play?:** Herself
**Which seasons did she appear in?:** *Coven*

It’s time for the world to end — at least for one show. This week marks one of the most anticipated events of fall TV, the premiere of American Horror Story‘s first official crossover season, AHS: Apocalypse. And we can’t wait for the madness to unfold.

It’s been no secret that every season of Ryan Murphy and FX’s anthology series has been connected. However those connections have typically come in the form of one-time guest appearances or winking nods to Twisty the Clown comics. That’s all changing with the premiere of Apocalypse. Set at the end of the world, this upcoming season combines the characters and stories from Season 1’s Murder House and Season 3’s Coven.

We’ve already laid out all the ways these seasons are connected. But these two seasons share something that’s deeper than a love of undead characters and a modern day timeline. As with every season of this anthology drama, Murder House and Coven have a lot of overlapping talent. And we’re here to help you sort through which Season 1 and Season 3 characters you’re definitely going to see, which ones you may be seeing, and the few who may stay permanently dead.

Above is our guide to what roles the returning Murder House and Coven actors will be playing. From brand new roles like Adina Porter’s Dinah Stevens to the plethora of people Sarah Paulson will be playing, there’s all sorts of mysteries hiding behind these characters. We have no idea how the antichrist apocalypse is all going to go down, but if Murphy is heading it, it’s sure going to be fun to watch.
