The 2018 US Open Finals this weekend were full of drama — and we’re not just talking about Serena Williams’ epic showdown with line judge Carlos Ramos. During yesterday’s Men’s Final, ESPN’s cameras noticed that one attendee was putting forth an Oscar-worthy performance as “worried tennis fan #1.” That fan would be legendary actress Meryl Streep, and judging by twitter’s reaction, Streep won the 2018 US Open.
Vulture reports that Meryl Streep was in the crowd at Arthur Ashe stadium this weekend to watch celebrated tennis champion Novak Djokovic take on up-and-coming Argentinian star Juan Martín del Potro. After del Potro took the first set, the rest of the match took on a tense feel, though Streep’s fave, Djokovic, pulled out the Grand Slam win in the end. However, Streep wasn’t always confident the Romanian could pull out the win, as evidenced by this now-viral reaction shot:
Twitter went crazy to see the acting legend go through a wild “rollercoaster of emotions” during the game.
Eventually, word got to Streep — through her audio commentary headphone — that she was inadvertently putting on a show for the crowd watching at home. Ever the profession, Ms. Streep saluted the camera with her choice of court-side refreshment: Heineken Light.
And if you need Meryl lifting a tall boy to the sky in GIF Form, twitter is already on that, too:
It’s worth noting that Streep wasn’t the only A-list celeb giving good face at the 2018 US Open Men’s Finals, but for some reason, Jerry Seinfeld’s blowfish face just didn’t take off.
