'The Good Cop' Never Stood A Chance On Netflix
It’s your favorite time of the week again, Woman Crush Wednesday. This week we’re crushing hard on the brunette bombshell who’s about to take over Netflix. Starring in the new original series The Good Cop, Monica Barbaro is the girl crush we just can’t get over.
WHO’S THAT GAL: Monica Barbaro
WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Born in Mill Valley, CA and raised in San Francisco, Barbaro started her career as a classically trained ballet dancer. In addition to her ballerina days, she also studied modern, salsa, flamenco, and West African dance. While working towards a Bachelor’s degree in dance at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Barbaro fell in love with acting. After graduation, she fine-tuned her acting skills at various acting schools in California.
As much as we enjoyed watching Monica in her roles on UnREAL and Chicago Justice, we are completely in love with her in this cop comedy. The Good Cop stars Tony Danza and Josh Groban as father and son NYPD officers who become unofficial partners in tackling Brooklyn’s toughest crimes. Groban plays the practical “by the book” detective and Danza plays a former officer who never follows the rules: so basically your new favorite odd couple.
Barbaro stars as Cora Vasquez, the newest detective on the All-City Homicide Task Force. And if appearing beside superstars like Tony Danza and Josh Groban seemed daunting, Barbaro doesn’t show it one bit. She holds her own and leaves the audience wishing for more Cora. Barbaro’s take on an NYPD officer and her subtle, but hilarious one liners counteract all the male energy, making the show a great one (that you should totally binge this weekend).

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: The Good Cop is certainly not Barbaro’s first rodeo. She’s appeared in lots of your favorite TV shows, but she’s most recognizable as Yael (aka “Hot Rachel”) on the hit Lifetime series UnREAL. She has also appeared in NBC’s Chicago franchise as Assistant State’s Attorney Anna Valdez. After a few cameos in Chicago P.D., Barbaro scored a starring role on Chicago Justice. The actress’ most recent role is Lisa Apple in Splitting Up Together.
WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: Check her out on The Good Cop which debuts this Friday (!!!) on Netflix. Barbaro is also slated to appear in the Top Gun sequel opposite Miles Teller, which comes out in 2020. And if you can’t wait that long, she is also reprising her role as Lisa Apple in season 2 of Splitting Up Together, which returns October 16 on ABC.
