With American Vandal, Netflix has created quite possibly the most bingeable show in binge-TV history. Is it true crime? Check. Is it funny? Double check. Does it contain a satisfying mystery? Yep, check. Are the a manageable length? You know it, check! When this true crime mocku-series drops engrossing and compelling modern mysteries on Netflix, we basically watch all 8 episodes at once. Whether it’s the question of who drew the dicks or the identity of the cyber fecal felon the Turd Burglar, American Vandal knows how to deliver a satisfying season of TV.

So… what’s up with Season 3? Is American Vandal coming back for more? Will Peter and Sam tackle a new case in a new school? What do we know about American Vandal Season 3?!

Is American Vandal real?

Yeah, let’s get this out of the way first since this is something that still baffles viewers. No, American Vandal is not real. American Vandal is completely scripted. The show comes from College Humor director Tony Yacenda and Screen Junkies producer Dan Perrault, which explains why the show is so keyed into modern internet humor. It’s the brainchild of two guys from arguably the leaders of online video humor. Plus you’ll recognize the actors from other things, too. Tyler Alvarez (who plays Peter) was a regular on the Nickelodeon show Every Witch Way, and Griffin Gluck (Sam) starred in Private Practice and Red Band Society.

Will there be an American Vandal Season 3?

It’s still too soon to tell. Netflix actually waited a month after Season 1 dropped to announce Season 2, so there’s still a bit of time left for Netflix to make the decision. So if a Season 3 isn’t announced by the end of October, then you can start worrying. In the meantime, if you want to guarantee a third season, watch all of American Vandal (Netflix seems to mainly care that people finish the shows they start) and maybe even rewatch it!

Who will be in American Vandal Season 3?

The only carryover characters between Seasons 1 and 2 were high school private eyes Peter Maldonado and Sam Ecklund. Both seasons featured new schools and entirely new faculties and student bodies. With that in mind, it’s entirely likely that Season 3–if there is one–will also see the detective duo in a new school.

What will American Vandal Season 3 be about?

We don’t know yet, and it’s foolish to even try to guess. After all, who could have guessed that the show would follow up graffiti dicks with a poop piñata? Season 3 could be about anything, from boobs to boners or barf. And even if they pick a similarly juvenile topic, who knows how they’ll spin it into a deep rumination on the human condition like they have in previous seasons?

The only thing we can maybe guess is the setting. Peter and Sam aged one year between seasons, going from juniors to seniors. That means that if we get a Season 3, it’s very likely they’ll be college freshmen, which could make for a drastic change in the show’s tone and style.

When does American Vandal Season 3 come out?

Seasons 1 and 2 hit basically exactly a year apart, on September 15 and September 14. Going off that, it’s likely that Season 3 could arrive on September 13, 2019. That is, of course, if Season 3 gets greenlit in the next five weeks.
