Bill Maher Says Brett Kavanaugh Is ‘A Liar & A Drunk’ On HBO’s ‘Real Time’

Last night on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, the host spent the majority of his opening monologue lacing into Brett Kavanaugh for his “unhinged” testimony in court before the Senate Judiciary Committee, for which he blamed President Donald Trump. Maher not only blasted Kavanaugh for his alleged misconduct towards Christine Blasey Ford, who testified against the Supreme Court nominee this week, but also assaulted his character, calling him “a liar & a drunk.”

Maher centered his commentary on Kavanaugh’s tone during the testimony. “This was a very different Brett Kavanaugh—he came out swinging,” Maher said. “Like his penis at a college party.”

“If that was a divorce hearing, she would have gotten the kids,” Maher declared. “Why did Kavanaugh suddenly act that way? Because Trump told him to! Because Trump didn’t like that he was being meek, good Brett. He wanted someone in his image so he gave him whiny bitch lessons.”

The host then touched on Kavanaugh’s apparent fascination with beer, which the nominee mentioned multiple times during his hearing, claiming that he drank beers with friends while in prep school but never blacked out or suffered any sort of memory lapse as a result. He also chalked off any mention of vomiting while drunk in his yearbook to simply having a “weak stomach.”

“This choirboy act…you know, I spent my high school years concentrating on my friendships and church,” Maher said in a sarcastic tone. “You know what defense doesn’t work so well anymore? ‘I can’t be a sex criminal, I’m a Catholic.’”

Maher also went after Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) who seemed to use the hearing to drum up Republican support despite Kavanaugh’s posturing.

Talking about the clip of a woman cornering Jeff Flake on an elevator about his position on the hearing, Maher joked: “And then they tried to corner Lindsey Graham, but he got away, because he’s familiar with the back door.”
