All Tricks, No Treat: ‘Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo’ is Leaving Hulu on Oct 31

Walt Whitman once said, “Every hour of the light and dark is a miracle.” Mr. Whitman penned many divine words during his time on this planet, but that particular passage proved to be a bunch of beautiful, beautiful garbage because Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo is leaving Hulu. You might be asking yourself, “If a higher power truly exists, why would they produce so much pain?” I truly don’t know. But the one thing I am sure of is that you only have until Halloween to stream the 1999 Rob Schneider comedy Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo on Hulu.

The plot is much too intricate for a synopsis, but the story revolves around Rob Schneider’s Deuce Bigalow — a man forced into becoming a male gigolo after an unfortunate series of zany shenanigans. Rational people might and should conclude that the combination of Rob Schneider, madcap sexual humor, and a soundtrack that consists of not one but two Smash Mouth songs would garner rave reviews from critics. But here’s the thing, it did not. True art provokes division and Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo was no different. CinemaBlend referred to it as a “hopeless crap-fest of crude humor,” while an Amazon five-star review called it “freaking hysterical,” and notes that the film is “Rob Schneider at his best.”

There are no words to be said about this tragic loss of cinematic splendor, but there are a few words to be sung about it. With the help of Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris, Michael McCary, and Shawn Stockmana — who are collectively known as a cappella wunderkinds Boyz II Men, let’s channel our grief into saying goodbye to yesterday.

For the purposes of this article, “yesterday” is the film Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo.
