The creepiest thing you can watch this Halloween isn’t any new horror movie, and it’s not part of a horror franchise. It’s a Netflix original series, and it’s superb. Ever since The Haunting of Hill House premiered it has rightfully dominated the internet. So when can we expect more?

The best way to to describe Mike Flanagan’s series is to imagine what would happen if This Is Us took place in a haunted house. The 10-episode series follows the Crain family, who was mysteriously driven out of one of their childhood homes by a series of ghosts. But even though the past couple of decades have only left them older and hotter, that doesn’t mean the Crain children are complete finished with Hill House. After the youngest Nell (Victoria Pedretti) kills herself, her siblings are forced to confront the source of their pain one last time.

Season 1 was a haunting (pun intended) look at loss and grief. But was this a one-off emotional rollercoaster or can we expect more episodes? Here’s what we know so far.

Will there be a Haunting of Hill House Season 2?

At the moment the series hasn’t been renewed for a second season, but that doesn’t mean you should give up on your spooky dreams. The show was a big hit was fans, gaining a 92 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and earning the reputation as one of the best horror series ever created. Additionally Hill House has been discussed quite a bit on social media. There’s a really good chance that a renewal will be happening soon.

This one really comes down to Netflix and show creator Mike Flanagan because the cast is already on board. But considering that there’s allegedly an Easter egg in Season 1 that teases a second season, Flanagan is down with more creepiness. That was confirmed during an interview the show creator did with EW in which he revealed that though the Crain family’s story may be over, he’s open to exploring new directions for the show.

When will The Haunting of Hill House Season 2 premiere?

Netflix originals typically release new seasons on a yearly schedule. If there is a second season of The Haunting of Hill House, it would likely premiere around October of 2019. Releasing it any other month would just feel wrong.

How did Season 1 end?

Are you ready for some spoilers? Because they’re coming your way and they’re coming in hot.

Decider’s Meghan O’Keefe already broke down the full conclusion in detail, but in case you’re feeling both rusty and lazy here’s the TL;DR version. There’s not a straight timeline in Hill House but a wibbly-wobbly one (thank you Whovian Mike Flanagan). Because of this the Bent-Neck Lady was really the ghost of Nell the whole time. She was trying to warn her siblings and past self about Hill House.

Also Olivia (Carla Gugino), possessed by the evil of the house, also once tried to poison her children and trap them in the Red Room so she could keep them forever. That’s the real threat Hugh (Henry Thomas) was trying to save his kids from the night of the storm.

What could happen in Season 2?

A whole lot because we still have a mess of ghosts on our hands. Season 1 ended with four surprise ghosts — Nell, Olivia, the caretakers’ daughter Abigail (Olive Elise Abercrombie), and Hugh, who sacrificed his life to save his kids. Another season could explore what it’s like for these ghosts to exist in Hill House and how knowing the truth affects the Crain siblings.

There’s also a slew of hidden ghosts lurking in Hill House as well as the ever-creepy Mr. Smiley. How did they all die? What traumas are they hiding? The Haunting of Hill House could easily go full American Horror Story: Murder House and turn into an anthology of creepy tales all in one house.

Going the anthology route probably makes the most sense for a second season. But there’s also more source material from the book Season 2 could use. The original The Haunting of Hill House novel followed a man named Dr. Montague who brought a pair of paranormally sensitive women to a Hill House to prove it was haunted. The first season also had its own Dr. Montague — Nell’s psychiatrist, who was played by Russ Tamblyn. We could always learn more about him.

Regardless if there are more episodes, be on the lookout for more sneaky ghosts. We hear they’re everywhere.
