Congrats, you made it to the weekend! This Sunday, we’re gaining another hour thanks to the end of Daylight Saving Time, and if you think you’re doing anything with that extra time other than sitting on the couch, you’re lying to yourself. Luckily, your favorite streaming platforms are here with that post-DST content, so you should have no issue finding a show or movie to watch as you munch on some leftover Halloween candy. What are you waiting for? Streaming awaits!
After months of build-up, Netflix is finally releasing House of Cards Season 6, the final season of the political thriller, and the first without Kevin Spacey. To fill Spacey’s role, Robin Wright is stepping up: Claire Underwood, now president, is the new star of the show, and she proves to be even more ruthless than her late husband. If you’ve been a fan of House of Cards since Netflix’s early days, you won’t want to miss these last eight episodes, so be sure to get ’em while they’re hot to avoid spoilers.
Not feeling politics these days? Check out Homecoming, a half-hour drama starring Julia Roberts in her first major TV role since, well, ever. Our Joe Reid describes the thriller as “hugely enjoyable,” so you should probably just stop reading and head over to Prime Video right now. In the mood for something a bit sexier? The final Fifty Shades film, Fifty Shades Freed, lands on HBO this Saturday, and it’s not just any old version: it’s the extended version. We could make about a thousand “extended” jokes right now, but we’ll save them for another time.
Curious what else is hitting Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, and HBO? Here’s what’s new on streaming this weekend.
House of Cards: Season 6
Claire Underwood is in the house — the White House, that is. In House of Cards‘ sixth and final season, Robin Wright’s character must mourn the loss of her husband while also running the nation. Just a small task, right? But that’s not all: Claire also has to contend with the insidious Shepherds (Greg Kinnear and Diane Lane), a political family with connections as deep as their pockets. Will Claire be able to bring them down? Will America finally learn how Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) died? Is this all going to end in a nuclear war? Watch House of Cards Season 6 to find out.

Homecoming: Season 1
Once you start Homecoming, you won’t be able to stop, so be sure you have plenty of free time to binge-watch this weekend. Julia Roberts stars as Heidi Bergman, a caseworker at a transitional support center for soldiers returning home from active duty. But there’s something much more insidious going on behind-the-scenes at the center, also named Homecoming, and from there, the drama’s puzzle box mystery really gets going. Throughout its ten episodes, Homecoming flips between timelines, characters, and settings; while that may seem overwhelming, the expert direction of Mr. Robot‘s Sam Esmail makes it look seamless.

Fifty Shades Freed
The final film in the Fifty Shades franchise sees Christian (Jamie Dornan) and Anastasia (Dakota Johnson) happily married and dealing with their issues. That all changes when Anastasia’s former boss — the same man who Christian fired in Fifty Shades Darker for sexually harassing Anastasia — begins stalking the happy couple and takes Christian’s sister Mia (Rita Ora) hostage. By the franchise’s standards, Fifty Shades Freed is relatively tame in bed, but it’s still a must-see for devoted fans.
