This is Porsha’s Season on ‘RHOA’

Porsha Williams has not always been the peachiest peach in all the land of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, but at only two episodes deep, it’s clear that she is having a SEASON. In a good way! Maybe even in the best way.

Porsha has been much of the focus of the season so far, as we’re introduced to her boyfriend, The Hot Dog King Dennis McKinley, a man she’s remained her true, goofy ass self with. While her pregnancy and engagement haven’t happened yet on the show a whole lot certainly has. The two went shopping for half a million dollar rings (after five months of dating), she squealed over him showering her in other accessories (a watch, a cross necklace), and she even overcame a fancy dress literally choking her as she tried to enjoy a romantic meal with her boo. That she had to ask the staff to unzip it so she could breathe is not just incredible, it’s also pure Porsha.

Already this season she’s proven that she’s as fiery as that red hair of hers, but not in the dramatic way we’ve seen in the past. She can be as petty as the best of them, but this time around she’s giddy. She’s squealing, she’s twerking, and she’s even eating meat again. In other words, Porsha is living her best life and that vibe is being felt throughout the show. She’s mostly, for now, on okay terms with Kandi, and her friendship with NeNe has never been nicer. Hell, Marlo trying to sneak switch hotel rooms with her could’ve been a blow up we’d be hearing about at the reunion in the spring, but it was squashed with a wardrobe prank and lots of laughs.

Bravo

Not that everything she’s pulling so far is entirely agreeable. That she shares a toothbrush with Dennis was not a fact that impressed the other ladies in any way, but Porsha stood by it. Look, she’s what a professional might describe as “crazy in love.” Which is precisely what made her first argument with Dennis (captured by cameras, of course) just a little bit peculiar. Porsha alleges that he snuck downstairs in the hotel to meet a friend after their dinner (and dessert) and he was gone for hours. Already it’s not a great look that she has to confront him, but it is great that she did it at all. Now, her later apology for “acting up” was rather unnecessary, although while Porsha’s happiness matters, so do the storylines of this show and this moment just ensured some doozies are on the way.

Porsha is not only doing great in her real life, she’s doing great on RHOA this season. That has certainly not been an accurate statement in previous seasons of the Bravo show, but it sure is refreshing that it’s true right now. She’s doing everything a Housewife should: showing off tackily large price tags, acting extra ridiculous (really with the toothbrush thing?), and ultimately living her very privileged life to the max. That she only has more blessings and bumps (of all kinds, likely) to come this season is enough reason to stay tuned. Plus, it’s a near guarantee that there’s more twerking on the way.
