Narcos: Mexico

Powered by Reelgood

Congrats, you made it to the weekend! Can I get a hot tub?! This weekend, your favorite platforms are rolling out hit after hit, so you should probably just stay parked on the couch all weekend. You’ve got to store up all your energy before you deal with family Thanksgiving drama, right?

Narcos fans, you’re in luck: the highly-anticipated fourth season debuts today on Netflix. In Season 4, rebranded as Narcos: Mexico, the action shifts from Colombia to Mexico, and viewers will be introduced to a brand new kingpin. Felix Gallardo may not be Pablo Escobar, but don’t worry — he’s still every bit as ruthless. Looking for something a little lighter? Don’t miss the Netflix premiere of The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, the Coen bothers’ Western anthology. The film tells six different Western-inspired stories and features a slew of A-list actors (would you expect anything less from a Coen brothers’ production?), so make sure you stream it while the Oscar buzz is hot. If you’re feeling something a little more escapist, don’t miss Pacific Rim: Uprising, the sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 hit Pacific Rim. The sci-fi flick lands on HBO this Saturday, which means you have plenty of time to ogle John Boyega before you head back to work on Monday. Priorities, people.

Curious what else is hitting Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, and HBO? Here’s what’s new on streaming this weekend.

Narcos: Mexico

Narcos‘ fourth season, Narcos: Mexico, follows the cat-and-mouse game between drug lord Felix Gallardo (Diego Luna) and DEA agent Kiki Camarena (Michael Peña). As Felix begins to expand the Guadalajara Cartel across Mexico in the 1980s, effectively kicking off the modern drug war, he draws the attention of Kiki, an agent who recently moved to Mexico with his family. Even from afar, the men are natural adversaries, but Kiki’s commitment to the case puts him in great danger, and it’s only a matter of time before the two share an explosive exchange.

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs

Originally conceived as a limited series, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs tells six different stories about the outlaws and settlers in the Wild Wild West. The film features stories about a sharp-shooting crooner (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs starring Tim Blake Nelson), a gold miner (All Gold Canyon), a bank robber (Near Algodones), and more, but the Coen brothers manage to unite each narrative with their unique brand of camera work, striking visuals, and moving performances. Buster Scruggs is one of Netflix’s strongest Oscar contenders, so if you’re ready to dominate your awards pool, be sure to check it out.

Pacific Rim: Uprising

Pacific Rim: Uprising picks up in 2035, 10 years after Pacific Rim‘s Battle of the Breach. The sequel follows John Boyega as former Jaeger pilot Jake Pentecost (son of Idris Elba’s Stacker) as he continues his father’s fight agains the destructive Kaiju, the monsters hell-bent on ending the world. Pacific Rim: Uprising Rotten Tomatoeshas a paltry 44% Fresh rating on , but don’t let the haters fool you: if you’re a sci-fi fan, you’ll find something to like in this big-budget epic. Plus, the film features monsters fighting robots, and who doesn’t like that?
