New Movies On Demand: ‘Mission: Impossible–Fallout,’ ‘Peppermint,’ ‘The Nun,’ And More

Thanksgiving leftovers are in the fridge and that can only mean one thing: the holidays are in full swing! Sure, Target’s had Christmas stuff up since Halloween, but today marks the official, you cannot deny it start of the Christmas season. Are you ready for all the merriment and, more importantly, time off? You can spend the last few weekends of 2018 getting caught up on all of 2018’s movies! Whether you use Amazon Video, iTunes, Vudu or your cable’s on demand service, there are a lot of new releases out there waiting for you to discover. And if you want to get a head start on planning your November viewings, you can check out our exclusive list of FandangoNow’s upcoming releases!

Plenty of 2018 movies are now available to purchase on VOD, like the blockbuster creepfest The Nun. Set in the Conjuring-verse, The Nun tells the tale of a priest and a young nun’s battle against a demonic force–who just so happens to also be a nun. If you’re looking for something really different, check out the puppet cop comedy The Happytime Murders starring Melissa McCarthy. And I’m not joking: imagine a crime film where half the cast are legit puppets created by an extension of Jim Henson’s company. And totally different from either of those two is Operation Finale, a thriller starring Oscar Isaac and Ben Kingsley based on the true story of the agents that tracked down the Nazi war criminal that engineered the Holocaust.

What else can you buy or rent this week? Find out by taking a look at the collection of action epics, revenge flicks, and family entertainment now available for you to enjoy from the comfort of your very own home!

Mission: Impossible–Fallout

Tom Cruise and his gang of rogue spies are back for another round of sophisticated action in the latest entry in the Mission: Impossible franchise. This time around, Cruise is partnered up with a musclebound American played by Superman himself, Henry Cavill. You may have heard a thing or two about Cavill over the summer, when his mustachioed face and fist-pumping action were inescapable. Trust me: the movie more than delivers on that mustache’s hype. You can buy Fallout right now, but you’ll have to wait until December 4 to rent it.

Peppermint

The one-time super spy Jennifer Garner returns to her action-packed Alias roots in this revenge film. Garner plays a woman whose family is murdered by criminals, criminals that weasel their way out of any charges. So what does the grieving mother do? She molds herself into a one-woman army against crime, Punisher style. No, seriously, the premise of this movie is basically “What if Jennifer Garner played the Punisher?” You can find out what that looks like by buying Peppermint digitally right now. You can rent the movie starting on December 11.

A Quiet Place

The actor formerly known as Jim Halpert transitioned into frighteningly effective horror director this year with the smash hit A Quiet Place. Need some convincing before you turn your Thanksgiving weekend all spooky? Let Decider’s Joe Reid handle that:

Director John Krasinski has delivered an incredibly effective monster movie, but more importantly he’s delivered an uncommon viewing experience for audiences willing to sit in terrified silence as the family in the film (Krasinski, Emily Blunt, and their three children) devise endless methods of staying alive while the sickeningly fast and invulnerable creatures prowl just out of sight.

What are you waiting for? You can rent these innovative chills and thrills for just under a buck in iTunes!
