Netflix Renews Golden Globe Winner 'The Kominsky Method' for Season 2
For entertainment lovers, the Golden Globes are the best awards show of the year. Not only do the Globes honor the best film AND television of the year, they’re also about ten times more fun than the Emmys and the Oscars combined. Who doesn’t love watching celebrities get drunk, hang out, and sling good-natured insults at one another?
This year, the television categories will likely be packed with returning nominees, including Donald Glover’s Atlanta, This Is Us, The Handmaid’s Tale, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (last year’s drama and comedy winners, respectively). However, there are still some newcomers to look out for, like assassin series Barry and Killing Eve and Julia Roberts’ Homecoming. Considering that Killing Eve is a British-produced drama, receiving a nomination from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association seems like a virtual lock.
On the film side, Netflix has a serious contender in the form of Roma. While Alfonso Cuarón’s film can’t be nominated in the Best Picture race due to a HFPA rule that says foreign-language films can’t compete for the top prize, Roma can still snag noms for the major directing and acting awards. Expect Cuarón to walk away with nominations for Best Director and Best Foreign Language Film. Outside the Netflix bubble, it’s likely that A Star Is Born, Bohemian Rhapsody, and crowd-pleaser Green Book will also come away with multiple nominations.
The 76th Golden Globe Awards will air Sunday, January 6, 2019, so nominees will have plenty of time to celebrate before the big day — and those snubbed will have ample time to recover. Best of luck, Globe hopefuls!
Here is the full list of Golden Globe nominees. Decider will update this list as nominations are announced.
