Are you ready for it? On Thursday morning, Taylor Swift dropped a major bomb when she announced that her recent Reputation Tour concert film will be hitting Netflix on New Years’s Eve. Swift’s Reputation special gives fans behind-the-scenes access to her tour, as well as an inside look at the many the performances, costume changes, and guest stars that made the event so epic.
In honor of her birthday, Swift shared the official Netflix trailer on both Twitter and Instagram, revealing that the concert film will premiere “at 12:01 AM PT December 31” (thanks for the specifics, T-Swift). “Today I finally get to show you something we’ve been working on for a while… the trailer for the Reputation Stadium tour!” she wrote on Instagram. “You made this tour so insanely fun for all of us on stage, and I’m really excited that we will have this memento of the memories we all made together this year.” Swift then thanked her opening acts, Charli XCX and Camila Cabello, as well as her band and amazing dancers, all of whom “shine so brightly in this film.”
The trailer is pretty conventional as far as concert film trailers go. There’s a voiceover from Swift about someone who “fell apart” but has now risen and re-created herself — no one ever accused Reputation of being subtle — that builds into quick shots of her performing. The trailer shows off Swift’s range, from her pop songs to her guitar-filled country hits. “Welcome to the Reputation Stadium Tour,” she says over tens of thousands of screaming fans.
