Disney Fires ‘Andi Mack’ Star Stoney Westmoreland for Allegedly Trying to Solicit Sex from a Minor

Disney Channel actor Stoney Westmoreland has been fired from the popular kids’ show Andi Mack for allegedly trying to meet a 13-year-old boy for sex. Westmoreland was arrested in Utah, where the show films, as part of a sting operation on Thursday, and Disney took swift action the following day, firing the 48-year-old actor from his “recurring role” on the series. The actor has played Ham Mack, the family’s grandfather, since Andi Mack premiered in 2017.

According to Newsweek, Westmoreland had been using a dating app to communicate with someone he thought was a 13-year-old boy, but was really a police officer. Police allege that Westmoreland asked the “boy” to engage in sex, solicited nude photos from the minor, and sent “pornographic images of male genitalia and men having anal sex.” Westmoreland was on his way to meet the person he believed to be the minor when Salt Lake City police intercepted and arrested him. The actor has been charged with enticing a minor by Internet or text and four counts of dealing in materials harmful to a minor.

Westmoreland was fired shortly after his arrest. “Stoney Westmoreland, an actor working on the series Andi Mack, was arrested in Salt Lake City today,” a rep for Disney said in a statement. “Given the nature of the charges and our responsibility for the welfare of employed minors, we have released him from his recurring role and he will not be returning to work on the series, which wraps production on its third season next week.” According to Deadline, the age of the alleged victim is the same as that of the characters in Andi Mack, which follows a 13-year-old girl and her best friends through the ups and downs of middle school.

In addition to starring in Andi Mack, Westmoreland has appeared in dozens of shows and films, including ScandalBreaking Bad and Better Call Saul, and Godzilla.
