Netflix Renews Golden Globe Winner 'The Kominsky Method' for Season 2
Idris Elba had a big night at the 2019 Golden Globes. The Luther star presented the award for Best Original Score and Best Original song with surprise guest Taylor Swift, cheered on his daughter Isan Elba as Miss Golden Globe, and squared off with James Bond star Daniel Craig. For months, Elba has been rumored to be the next Bond, James Bond, but even though he put those rumors to rest last year, the actor was down to joke around during a Golden Globes commercial break.
Late Sunday night, Elba posted an “awks” photo of his encounter with Craig, which features a very intense-looking Bond staring down his “competition.” Clearly the two are kidding, but if Elba ever does decide to go after the iconic role of 007, he’d better watch his back.
Please note Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos cheesing in the back like he’s about to purchase the entire James Bond franchise.
Elba and Craig’s encounter kicked off a bevy of responses from fans, some of whom are super into the idea of dueling James Bonds (seconded).
Unfortunately, it’s not likely that an Elba-Craig fight will happen any time soon. Back in August 2018, Elba ended the rumors once and for all when he told Good Morning Britain that he prefers his martinis “stir-fried” instead of shaken or stirred. “Am I looking at the next 007?” asked a reporter. “No,” Elba said with a slight chuckle (and not an “I know something that you don’t” chuckle).
Regardless of whether Elba ends up taking on the role of James Bond or not, I’m 100 percent down for these “awks” encounters to continue. Two hot dudes side-eying each other? More of that, please.
