Bill Cosby is Reportedly Role-Playing as Dr. Cliff Huxtable in Prison

Convicted predator Bill Cosby may be trying to recreate The Cosby Show in prison. According to a new report from Radar Online, Cosby, who is currently serving a three to 10 year sentence for sexual assault, has been treating sick inmates as Dr. Cliff Huxtable, his famed Cosby Show character. Sources close to the situation said that Cosby “believes he learned a lot about how to cure people” while playing Dr. Huxtable, an OB/GYN, and he has been “accepting appointments from inmates to help diagnose anything from a cold to obesity.”

Sources close to the 81-year-old told Radar Online that Cosby spends as much as an hour a day speaking with “patients” in need of diagnoses and nutrition advice. “He is accepting appointments from inmates to help diagnose anything from a cold to obesity,” said one source. “If he thinks they’re incurable, he refers them to the infirmary with a ‘preliminary diagnosis.'” The comic has reportedly told his friends that the medics in prison are “overeducated, unintelligent children with a clipboard,” so he began “offering Dr. Huxtable” as an alternative. According to the report, Cosby believes he’s qualified to do so: he “believes he learned a lot about how to cure people and speak to patients after playing Dr. Huxtable for nearly eight years on The Cosby Show.”

“He told us that he wore a bedsheet like an ‘apron’ to get into character,” a source told Radar Online. “He said his medical skills are a ‘tad rusty’ since he played Dr. Huxtable, but he’s still ‘hip’ to the ‘role.'” Prison employees don’t seem bothered by Cosby’s role-playing. Inmates were reportedly “told to follow along with whatever Cosby says,” as “he’s old” and “the prison does not intend on moving him.”

UPDATE: When reached for comment, Cosby’s rep Andrew Wyatt said that reports of Cosby giving medical advice as Dr. Huxtable are false. “Radar Online is an egregious publication that has fabricated many reports regarding my [client] Mr. Cosby,” he said. “This recent story produced by Radar Online is utterly asinine, which shows their desperate attempts to garner readers and advertising dollars because of Mr. Cosby’s popularity.”
