‘Cobra Kai’ Season 2 Should Premiere in “Late April, Early May”

Cobra Kai was perhaps the biggest pop culture surprise of 2018. YouTube Premium’s Karate Kid revival was an instant hit, earning rave reviews, a pitch-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, and becoming one of the most-watched YouTube videos of 2018. To borrow a term from the source material: It was the best around.

As an avowed Cobra Kai fanatic, I’ve been waiting for news on a second season since the shocking conclusion of the Season 1 finale. YouTube renewed their smash hit back in May, and while they said the upcoming season would debut “as quickly as possible,” no firm premiere date for a return to the dojo was announced. But in today’s 24-hour news cycle, you don’t have to wait for an event like the Television Critics Association to break a little news.

During a recent Twitter Q&A, Cobra Kai co-creator Jon Hurwitz was asked about the Season 2 release date. The bad news? There’s still no official word on when new episodes will be available to stream. The good news? We’re circling in on a premiere date.

“Look for it in late April or early May,” Hurwitz tweeted. “Official release date should be announced fairly soon. #CobraKai #Season 2”

Late April or early May? We’ll take it!

*** UPDATE: Season 2 of Cobra Kai will premiere Wednesday, April 24th on YouTube. ***

Decider reached out to YouTube for comment and will update this story with any new information. If you still need to catch up on Season 1, the first two episodes are streaming for free, and the entire series is available to watch on YouTube Premium.
