New Movies on Demand: ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me?,’ ‘Robin Hood,’ ‘Widows,’ and More

Now that we’re in Oscar month, are you just more psyched than ever to watch movies? This is the Christmas of movie watching, which is kinda excessive since Christmas just happened. But whatever–the Oscars are around the corner and you’ve got a lot of streaming to do! Fortunately for you, whether you use Amazon Video, iTunes, Vudu or your cable’s on demand service, there are a lot of new releases out there waiting for you to discover.

There are a whole lot of solid options available to rent this week, including the acclaimed heist thriller Widows. Featuring an all-star cast headed up by Viola Davis, Widows is a crime thriller unlike any you’ve seen before–and now you can see it for a fraction of its purchase price. Also available to rent this weekend is the animated family film The Grinch. Yeah, Christmas is old news, but who says the Grinch is a seasonal treat? Oh, the source material and the movie’s entire plot? Uh, well, whatever, it’s Christmas year-round for some, maybe even you! If you’re looking for something a bit rowdier, you can now rent the dark western comedy The Sisters Brothers starring John C. Reilly and Joaquin Phoenix. And yeah, there is really a movie titled The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot starring Oscar nominee Sam Elliott as the titular man. It is a for real movie and it’s actually getting solid reviews. This could be a great WTF stream on Saturday night if you’re up for buying it.

What else can you buy or rent this week? Find out by taking a look at the collection of Oscar-nominated films, action period pieces, and informative docs now available for you to enjoy from the comfort of your very own home!

Can You Ever Forgive Me?

Melissa McCarthy scored her second Oscar nomination for her performance as literary fraudster Lee Israel in this biopic. Richard E. Grant also earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for playing a larger-than-life drug dealer and one of Israel’s confidants. The film’s earned rave reviews, especially for McCarthy, who’s most known for her comedic work. Can You Ever Forgive Me? proves that there’s a whole lot more to McCarthy than physical comedy. You’ll be able to rent Can You Ever Forgive Me? on February 19.

Robin Hood

Just because a movie features a hot cast and adapts a time-tested legend doesn’t mean it’ll be a box office hit. Everyone involved with Lionsgate’s modern update of the Robin Hood mythology late last year learned that the hard way, as the film starring Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx, and Ben Mendelsohn came and went with little fanfare. The film also wasn’t well-received with critics, and it’s been nominated for three Golden Raspberry Awards. But whatever–if you love Robin Hood and/or Jamie Foxx, you’re probably curious about it! Despite its faults, it at least delivers on bow and arrow action. So maybe don’t buy it at full price this weekend unless you’re a Robin Hood completist, but maybe give it a rent sometime after February 19.

$0.99 iTunes Movie Rental

Snakes on a Plane

Come on, you know what this movie is. It’s right there in the title! This movie was a viral sensation before social media was even a thing. You currently can’t stream this B-movie madness anywhere, so renting it is the next best option. Right now you can do that for just under a buck in iTunes. I think you know what to do.
