AOC Reacts To Stunning Jan. 6 Testimony on 'Colbert': “They Knew That What They Were Doing Was Wrong”
Remember when we told you that you’re going to need a Showtime account in 2019? That just got way more real. This afternoon, Showtime announced that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will be the first guest on late night talk show Desus & Mero. Ocasio-Cortez plugged her appearance in a new promo that almost sounds like a presidential announcement… until you realize that hosts Desus Nice and The Kid Mero are chilling there, too. On second thought, those two would make any presidential candidate way more legit. Your move, Elizabeth Warren.
“Today, I am proud to announce that I will be forming an exploratory committee to be the first guest on Desus & Mero,” Ocasio-Cortez says at the beginning of the spot. Desus Nice and The Kid Mero then jump into the frame (talking about “explorin'” and forming “committees” and other things that politicians do) to remind viewers that their new series debuts next week. “Desus & Mero February 21 on Showtime,” says Desus. “She’s gonna be there, you better be there. We’re her secret service. You don’t want these hands.”
According to Showtime, the show’s first episode will feature an interview with Ocasio-Cortez, as well as a visit to her office in Washington, D.C. where the duo attempts to “make her feel at home.” Subsequent episodes of the Viceland-turned-Showtime series will feature high-profile guests including John Legend, Vince Staples, Ben Stiller, Issa Rae, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Pusha T.
Desus & Mero premieres Thursday, February 21 at 11/10c on Showtime. You can watch Ocasio-Cortez’s promo above.
