Megyn Kelly Claps Back at Sarah Silverman Over NSFW Trump Tweet

It’s a battle of the canceled TV hosts. On Monday, Megyn Kelly and Sarah Silverman got into it on Twitter over Silverman’s NSFW tweet about President Trump. Kelly slammed the I Love You, America host for her blue commentary, saying that she has no place starring “in children’s movies produced by Disney,” and just minutes later, Silverman responded with jabs at Trump’s border policies and climate change denial. After the (admittedly brief) feud, celebrities and comedians came to Silverman’s defense and ripped the fired Megyn Kelly Today host for “being up [Trump’s] asshole” regardless of the many insensitive things he says and does.

Silverman and Kelly’s feud began on Monday, when Sarah Silverman responded to Trump’s tweet about Sen. Amy Klobuchar looking “like a Snowman(woman)!” during her presidential bid announcement. “No point in explaining how mind blowingly stupid this tweet is,” said Silverman. “So I’m just gonna go with FUCK YOU, and also add that you are a smelly penis hole with balls that touch water. Eat shit, you greedy twat.” The comic’s response instantly went viral (as of Wednesday morning, it has over 6,000 retweets and 62,000 likes) so it was only a matter of time before it hit Kelly’s timeline.

On Tuesday afternoon, Kelly quote-tweeted Silverman, saying, “This woman wants to star in children’s movies produced by Disney. (And just did, in Ralph Breaks the Internet.).” Within minutes, the former I Love You, America host had clapped back with a response of her own. “It’s true! I am a blue explicit ofter political comedian and I also love doing voices for children,” she said. “I know it’s easier if people are one thing but no one is, not even you! We all have many sides and I think that’s ok. Peace Ma.”

Silverman then responded again… and again. “Ps I’m more offended by a president who denies a real threat 97% of scientists beg him to take action on while creating a fake threat out of at-risk brown people at the border,” she followed-up. She then added that her most recent film, Ralph Breaks the Internet, is now available for digital purchase, so Kelly won’t even have to leave her house to see (or hear) Silverman in action.

Kelly didn’t respond, but Silverman’s fellow comics sure did. Patton Oswalt praised Silverman’s tweet, calling it “eloquent, elevated, and useful.” Actress Olivia Wilde responded to Kelly, saying, “‘This woman’ happens to be a brilliant, badass feminist with more curiosity and compassion than most of us combined.” And singer Vic Berger IV stepped in to remind Kelly that “Trump has said worse,” yet she’s “still up his asshole for some reason.”

Kelly has yet to respond, but at this point, it seems unlikely that she will. If only she still had a talk show where she could air her grievances…
