USA Network has set the bait for another visit to Temptation Island. The cable net has renewed its reboot of the 2000s reality dance for a second season, just six episodes into its freshman run.
Mark L. Walberg, who hosted the original series that aired from 2001-03 on Fox and was based on a European format, is back to oversee the fun. Season 2 will get an extended 12-episode run and include a reunion special.
On Temptation Island, four unmarried couples who are at a crossroads in their relationship travel to an exotic locale where they must decide whether to stay together or give in to the allure of specimens from the opposite sex. In Season 1, the couples hit a Maui resort where the lusty group of two dozen single men and women — all of whom are waiting to pounce on one another or members of the committed couples as flirting becomes a science, tears flow and drama bubbles in hot tubs.
The NBCUniversal network notes that Temptation Island has grown its audience by double digits in viewership since its January 15 debut — up 34% in 18-49, 36% among 25-54 and 23% total viewers, per Nielsen, and ranking as cable top new series of the year for social engagements. It’s also the No. 1 original cable series in its time period among 18-34.
