It appears as though fans can’t quite get enough of The Umbrella Academy. Despite Netflix’s ten-episode superhero action series premiering less than two weeks ago, people are already clamoring for Season 2. Adapted from the comic book series of the same name, the buzzy new show follows Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, and more as a super-dysfunctional family of superheroes who have eight days to save the world.
Not only does The Umbrella Academy currently boast a 73% on Rotten Tomatoes, but Decider’s Megan O’Keefe wrote that the series has one of the best pilot episodes on Netflix. Will there be a Season 2 of The Umbrella Academy? If so, when would a second season arrive on Netflix?

HAS NETFLIX RENEWED THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY FOR SEASON 2?

Nope, but don’t worry, that’s perfectly normal! Season 1 was only released on February 15, 2019.
WILL THERE BE A SEASON 2 OF THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY?
While it’s too early to expect an official announcement, things are looking good for a potential Season 2. Not only does The Umbrella Academy boast a respectable 73% on Rotten Tomatoes, but Screen Rant reports that it’s the “biggest digital show in the United States.” A data analytics firm, Parrot Analytics, reports that The Umbrella Academy is the number one digital original in the U.S. and that demand for the series “grew exponentially” over its premiere weekend.
When you factor in the show’s successful premiere and open-ended season finale, a second season of Umbrella Academy is a safe bet. During a recent interview with IndieWire, showrunner Steve Blackman expressed his desire to continue the show.
“I hope we get a second and third and fourth season, but I knew that having a great ending is important for Netflix as a streamer,” Blackman said. “You really want people to say, ‘I’ve got to come back and watch what happens.’ That was ultimate in my mind.”
WHEN DOES THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY SEASON 2 COME OUT ON NETFLIX? WHEN IS THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY SEASON 2 RELEASE DATE?
In the above IndieWire interview, Blackman mentions that it takes “18 months to do a season.” With that in mind, if Netflix renews The Umbrella Academy for Season 2, we’d expect the premiere date to be around October/November of 2020.
