‘The Conners’ Season 2: ABC Reportedly Close to Finalizing Deal for Hit Show’s Return

Hey everyone waiting for word on whether or not America’s favorite blue collar family will be coming back for more–that wait may be coming to an end! Deadline has reportedly heard that ABC is getting closer and closer to a deal to bring The Conners back for Season 2.

According to the report, Sara Gilbert (Darlene), John Goodman (Dan), and Laurie Metcalf (Jackie) have finalized deals that will up their pay and bring them back to do 13 episodes. That’s two more than Season 1, which tapped out at 11 episodes back in January. The trio will also get $375,000 an episode, which is up quite a bit from what they were making last year when Roseanne revival launched. There is, however, one catch: apparently while these new deals have been finalized, all three actors may or may not have signed the contracts yet.

But just because they haven’t signed yet doesn’t mean they aren’t going to sign; everyone involved has indicated that Season 2 will happen for a while now, and showrunner Bruce Helford is already cooking up ideas for The Conners‘ return.

Despite all the controversy surrounding the show’s creation and a whole lot of tweets from trolls, The Conners has been a solid performer for ABC. It was the biggest new show of the fall TV season and closed out its debut year on top as the season’s most-watched new comedy and ABC’s top comedy. The season even held steady in the ratings and enjoyed a big viewership bump for its season finale (7.74, up a million from the previous week).

Once the contracts are finalized, ABC is expected to formally announce the show’s return.
