‘Murder for Hire’ On Oxygen Is The Most Intense New Crime Series You’ll Watch This Weekend

Murder for Hire is guaranteed to get your heart pounding and leave your nails bitten all the way down. The new Oxygen series, from executive producer Dick Wolf, is one of the most bold, daring, and intense new crime shows you’ll see, and for good reason.

The series is about contract killings and follows the people who set a hit out on spouses (usually ex spouses), family members, and other people in their lives, as well as the authorities who work together to stop it from happening. It’s all examined here: what makes the disgruntled person get to the point where they want to have someone in their life killed, why they want to do it, how they try to do it, and who they enlist to help them. Murder for Hire also showcases how the law enforcement agencies investigate these claims, set up a sting operation, and eventually catch the mastermind, ultimately saving a life.

Viewers will physically feel the tension building as they watch both reenactments and real footage from interviews and surveillance tapes and become fully immersed in the case at hand (each episode tackles a different case). The first episode follows therapist Cynthia Guy who tried to use a patient to carry out the hit on her ex-husband, Terry Thomas, only the patient reported it to the authorities who intervened. You’ll be totally hooked watching where it went from there.

Murder for Hire does a great job explaining the tactics used by the law enforcement agencies who save lives, and watching it all play out is utterly enthralling. Because once that’s over, the show still keeps you hooked by letting the victims express what it feels like to live knowing someone once wanted them dead. It’s a super in-depth and interesting look at a world that’s rarely been examined this closely, and will surely have you addicted in no time.

Murder for Hire premieres Sunday, April 7th at 7pm ET/PT on Oxygen.
