Alex Trebek Says He’s “Feeling Good,” Plans to Return for ‘Jeopardy’ Season 36

On Wednesday, Jeopardy host Alex Trebek took a few minutes to update fans on his battle with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. In a new video posted to Jeopardy‘s social media accounts, Trebek revealed that he’s “feeling good,” and he said he plans to return to the beloved quiz show when Season 36 begins taping in July. “I’m touched beyond words,” the longtime host said of the encouragement and support he’s received from fans since announcing news of his diagnosis in early March.

“Hi everyone. Some of you may recall that, at the beginning of this season, I promised you that we had some surprises in store for you. Well, of course I had no idea at that time that there were some surprises in store for me, as well,” began Trebek. Standing on the Jeopardy stage, he continued, “So here, on the last day of taping for our 35th anniversary season, I wanted once again to thank you for your continuing messages of encouragement and support, particularly the many cards I’ve received from young people. I’m touched beyond words.”

“I’ve always tried to be straight with you, and I’m not going to stop now,” he said. “So, despite what you may have heard, I’m feeling good. I’m continuing with my therapy, and we — by we, the staff — is already working on our next season, the 36th year of Jeopardy. So, I look forward to seeing you, once again, in September with all kinds of good stuff.”

The Jeopardy YouTube account revealed underneath the video that Trebek has hosted 50 episodes of Jeopardy since his pancreatic cancer diagnosis. According to the account, Trebek plans to concentrate on his health until Jeopardy Season 36 begins filming in July, with those episodes set to air in September.
