‘Imposters’ Is Now The Best Binge-Watch on Netflix

It was back in sweet, sweet 2017 when Bravo launched their scripted series Imposters, a criminally underseen hour-long series about a con woman and the group of strangers she f*cked over that were hot on her heels. That first season was so unpredictable and exciting and addictive, and many learned this a year later in early 2018 when it popped up on Netflix. Only it was in this same year that everyone needed to be watching Season 2 on Bravo, not only because the new season was just as good and knew how to capitalize on everything awesome about its original season, bringing the chase to brand new places with brand new players. But also because Imposters wouldn’t go on to be renewed for Season 3 (though there is a petition to change that!). That it’s only two seasons is the bad news. That those near-perfect two seasons are now both on Netflix is the good news, making Imposters the excellent binge it was meant to be.

Inbar Lavi stars as Maddie Johnson (amongst a slew of other fake identities) as a woman who steals hearts and then steals from them, and as Ezra (Rob Heaps), Richard (Parker Young) and Jules (Marianne Rendon) all learned the hard way. Except this bunch, affectionately known as The Bumblers, weren’t going to sit around and wallow in their broken hearts and empty bank accounts. They set out to catch the woman who caused this mess, and it turns out, they weren’t the only ones with that plan.

The FBI’s involved, Maddie’s boss, a super scary dude named The Doctor is angry (and that’s not ideal), and oh yeah, Uma Thurman’s in this show too. As the kickass Lenny Cohen, it’s one of Thurman’s most intriguing roles in years, and one that will raise your heart rate every time she appears on screen.

Imposters is the rare show that will have you guessing and gasping and laughing, sometimes all in the same moment. All that fun, paired with the crazy cliffhangers that end most episodes, make this show designed for a binge-watch. Season 2 (which arrived on Netflix earlier this month) reveals that The Bumblers are as much fun as ever, Maddie is (almost) facing her demons head-on, and the addition of Paul Adelstein (also the show’s co-creator) as Shelly Cohen keeps things in Imposters world as thrilling as ever. And as we continue to learn more about these characters’ pasts, know that you’ll be seeing these actors a lot in the future.

But for now, enjoy them in the excellent Imposters, available on Netflix to allow you to flow seamlessly from one gripping episode to the next in a binge you’ll never want to end. And once it does, while the show’s motto is “always forward, never back”, they’ll certainly understand if you start from the beginning to watch it all over again.
