Drake Cursed ‘Game of Thrones’ Arya Stark in His Billboard Music Awards Speech

After single-handedly defeating the Night King and saving all of humanity on Sunday’s episode of Game of Thrones, the last thing Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) needs is Drake‘s “support.” But on Wednesday night, the young assassin received just that when Drake gave her a “shout out” in his Billboard Music Awards acceptance speech. For those who aren’t aware of the Drake curse, that is… not good. Game of Thrones fans were quick to slam the singer, calling him “the biggest jinx in all of media” and Cersei’s “weapon of choice” to kill Arya.

After winning the Top Billboard 200 Album for “Scorpion” (one of 12 awards he won last night), Drake thanked his real-life contributors — and one fictional one. “And hey, shout out to Arya Stark for putting in that work last week,” he said at the end of his speech. The moment earned him a huge round of applause from the audience, but fans at home weren’t so kind.

As soon as Drake congratulated the Night King slayer, Twitter filled up with messages from fans ripping him for sealing her fate. “Drake done fucked around and put Arya’s life in jeopardy,” wrote one user. “Cersei sent Drake to kill Arya with his weapon of choice: The Curse,” tweeted another. “Arya gonna die next week now,” wrote another.

Drake may not have any sway in the Game of Thrones writers’ room (well, let’s hope he doesn’t), but fans do have some legitimate cause for concern: every team he’s ever publicly supported has lost. In mid-April, Drake cheered on the Toronto Maple Leafs (his hometown team) in Game 4 of the NHL playoffs, and they went on to lose — both that game and later, the entire series — to the Boston Bruins.

His bad luck extends to other sports, as well: he’s a Kentucky basketball fan (the Wildcats haven’t won since he started wearing UK blue), a Golden State Warriors fan (they blew a 3-1 lead against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 NBA Finals), and an Alabama Crimson Tide fan (the Tide suffered the worst loss of the Nick Saban era to the Clemson Tigers in this year’s national championship game). That last one may have had something to do with Clemson’s stacked defensive line and Trevor Lawrence’s unreal arm, but I’m sure Drake can be blamed for at least part of it — maybe that first pick six?

But who knows, maybe Arya will survive, after all? If anyone can break the Drake curse, it’s Arya motherfucking Stark.
