‘A Star is Born’ Is Coming to HBO

As it turns out, we’re actually not too far from the shallow now. Next month, Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga‘s Oscar-winning remake of A Star is Born will be available to stream on HBO Go and HBO Now in all its musical glory. According to HBO, A Star is Born will hit the platform on June 8, just one day before the highly-anticipated Big Little Lies Season 2 premiere. Talk about a big weekend for HBO.

In case you stayed off social media for all of awards season, Cooper’s A Star is Born is the third remake of the original 1937 romance (it was remade in 1954 and 1976, and then again in 2018). The film follows famous musician, Jack (Cooper), who meets a struggling artist named Ally (Lady Gaga) and brings her along on his tour. Ally and Jack immediately fall in love, but before long, her success begins to eclipse his, and Jack falls back into addiction to cope with his complicated feelings. A Star is Born was a critical and commercial hit and went on to be nominated for eight Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Actress. Of the eight nominations, it only won Best Original Song for “Shallow,” but regardless, this moment felt pretty damn close to a win:

A Star is Born is one of five blockbuster movies hitting HBO in June. Other films on the premium cabler’s Saturday night movie slate next month include Bad Times at the El Royale (June 1), The Hate U Give (June 15), The Old Man & the Gun (June 22), and Robin Hood (June 29).

HBO has a busy month on the series front, as well. In addition to Big Little Lies Season 2, HBO will also be releasing Zendaya’s drama series Euphoria (June 16), Spanish-language comedy Los Espookys (June 14), the Chernobyl series finale (June 3), and more.

Hey, A Star is Born, I just wanted to take another look at you. Good thing I can do that on June 8.
