The Society proves something we all intrinsically know: teenagers shouldn’t be trusted to run their own government. But that doesn’t mean watching them try isn’t a good time. If you’ve already binge watched this Netflix original’s first season and are anxiously waiting for The Society Season 2, we have you covered.

Netflix’s latest teen drama can best be described as The Leftovers meets Riverdale with a dash of Lord of the Flies thrown in for good measure. The series follows a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to an alternate version of their New England town. There are no parents, adults, or younger kids in this new reality. There are only teens and their terrible ideas. It takes roughly one episode for these kids to go from shocked children to party-loving criminals.

Season 1 of The Society is about as addicting as teen dramas get. So when can you expect Season 2? Here’s everything we know.

Will There Be a The Society Season 2?

At the moment it’s too early to say whether or not Netflix plans to renew the series for a second season. However, since the show ended on a cliffhanger and it seems to be getting social media and attention from the old Google machine, it certainly seems like there’s room for a Season 2.

What Could Happen in The Society Season 2?

Buckle up from some finale spoilers because they’re coming in hot.

The Society‘s final episode, “How It Happens,” drops two major truth bombs. After a mysterious photo is discovered showing the late Cassandra (Rachel Keller) with a mysterious stranger, Sam (Sean Berdy) reveals a secret he’s been hiding for a while. The wealthy Eliot family apparently paid an agency to get rid of the smell that used to surround their town. Sam’s abusive and sociopathic brother Campbell (Toby Wallace) threatened Sam so he wouldn’t tell anyone. None of this explains exactly who this man is or why their New England town was transported to an alternate adult-free dimension, but based on this show’s logic it’s too coincidental to be ignored. And if the Eliots did know something about the smell, it’s possible that the disappearance of these teens was less of a random happening and more likely something that can be blamed on their parents.

This finale also gave us a clue about what’s been going on in The Society’s original dimension. The final moments of Episode 10 show a woman who is presumably one of these teens’ moms reading to a group of children all wearing yellow ribbons. On the wall behind her rests a plaque that reads “We Remember Them” listing all of the names of our protagonists. It seems like the adults in this original dimension think their young adult children are gone for good. But that also means this original dimension still exists.

However, The Society has never really cared much about its sci-fi origins. It’s all about teen betrayal and rash actions, and to figure out what may happen on this front you don’t have to look much further than the story this series is based on: Lord of the Flies. The last third of Lord of the Flies sees Ralph, the responsible leader of a group of stranded boys, lose his righthand man Piggy and one of his sweetest allies Simon thanks to a coup. This happens at the hands of Jack, the manipulative and psychopathic boy who bullies and manipulates people into joining his side.

If Jack’s description doesn’t fit Campbell, nothing does. Season 2 will likely see Allie (Kathryn Newton), this series’ Ralph-esque figure, battle between trying to keep the peace and fighting against the ruthless Campbell’s not-so-secret uprising. If she doesn’t see he’s danger now, she better figure it out ASAP.
