‘Catch-22’ Cast On Hulu: Who’s Who in the World War II Satire

Hot on the heels of The Act, Hulu’s next blockbuster TV series is undoubtedly Catch-22. Adapted from the iconic Joseph Heller novel, this six-part mini-series dives headfirst into the horrors of World War II and dredges up dark humor. The material is unquestionably a star in its own right (the widely used phrase “catch-22” comes from this novel, BTW), as is executive producer George Clooney. The series marks Clooney’s return to TV, the medium that made him a superstar back in the ’90s with ER. Clooney, who also directed a few episodes and plays the ball-busting role of Scheisskopf, assembled a murderer’s row of TV veterans and up-and-comers to flesh out the world of Catch-22–and it is a wide, weird world indeed.

With so many characters to keep track of in the mini-series, we figure you just might need some help keeping your Yossarians straight from your Minderbinders, or your Major Majors from your Chaplain Tappmans. So many characters from the acclaimed novel come to life in the series, and you’ll want to know them all by name. And if you can’t get enough of Catch-22‘s take on army satire, you should know that there’s even more out there to stream; the 1970 Catch-22 feature film from director Mike Nichols is streaming… but not on Hulu. You’ll have to switch over to Amazon’s Prime Video, but it’s worth it to see a different take on the source material.

Before you spend the weekend with the soldiers, here’s your guide to who’s who on Hulu’s Catch-22. All six episodes of Catch-22 debut on Hulu on May 17.
