Perhaps no Game of Thrones character inspires wild fan theories quite like Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright). He’s been accused of being the Night King, of whispering in the Mad King Aerys’s ear, and warging into every damn bird in the show’s background. However, I want to offer a new theory about Bran. It started out as a joke, but the more I think about it, the more I’m convinced it’s really happening.

I believe that Bran has been using his abilities to revisit past events in Westeros to tap out and watch every single crazy sex scene that’s happened on and off-screen. That is, when it seems like he’s not paying attention, in fact Bran Stark may be using his magical abilities to watch porn.

It is an inelegant theory, I know, but hear me out.

First, lets consider what powers Bran has as the Three-Eyed Raven. He has the ability to visit every event in history. The show has only let us join him for super specific journeys back to Winterfell, the Tower of Joy, and the birth of the Night King. However, we know that he can access more memories than just the ones that have to do with Jon Snow’s parentage or the Night King’s origin story. He also seems to have a bit of prophetic green sight and he can warg into other beings, most notably, Summer, Hodor, and a flock of birds.

I’m most interested in his ability to hop into the past. We know from Season 8, Episode 2, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” that he’s used his powers to look back at previous skirmishes with the Night King. He also used his abilities to help convict Littlefinger by being able to quote him verbatim from the past. So Bran has the ability to see everything that’s happened on Game of Thrones and then some. What’s something that has happened a lot on Game of Thrones? Explicit sex scenes.

Think about it, there’s been a lot of sex on Game of Thrones. We’ve seen orgies and explicit girl-on-girl action in Littlefinger’s brothel. We’ve had to witness marital rape and grotesque sexual assault. There’s even been incest galore and the occasional romantic sex scene. There’s been so much sex on Game of Thrones that the show has been criticized for it, but maybe there’s a deeper reason for all that sex. Maybe it had to exist for Bran to warg back in time and watch it.

Bran Stark might be the Three-Eyed Raven, but he’s also living his life in a teenager’s body. He may have a physical, or even philosophical, curiosity in the sex lives of Westeros’s heroes. We also do know for a fact that Bran can see what happens behind closed doors because when he and Sansa (Sophie Turner) have their first reunion chat in the Godswood, he references her wedding to Ramsay. He says he’s so sorry for what’s happened to her and that it had to happen at Winterfell. “You were so beautiful in your white wedding dress,” he tells Sansa, which sets her off. So, in fact, Bran has been able to see his own sister’s sexual assault. That’s harrowing!

It’s also proof that Bran can and has gone back and observed the private lives of the characters. HE HAS IN FACT WATCHED PEOPLE HAVING SEX! GOOD AND BAD!

So when Bran Stark tells Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) that he’s sorry, but he has to go now in the middle of the Battle of Winterfell, maybe he’s not off doing some kind of noble warging. Maybe he’s just jerking off to Ros (Esme Bianco) in all her glory. Perhaps he’s checking out the nasty things Oberyn Martell (Pedro Pascal) got up to in the heat of a Dornish summer. Whenever Bran Stark seems out of it, there is a non-zero chance that he is actually watching people in the past getting their freaky on.

Of course, he might be also warging into every random animal in Westeros, but I prefer to think that Bran Stark is getting his rocks off. It’s just my crazy theory, though.

The Game of Thrones Series Finale premieres Sunday, May 19, 2019 on HBO.
