New Movies on Demand: ‘The Upside,’ ‘Happy Death Day 2U,’ ‘Fighting With My Family,’ and More

Hello Friday, I’ve been waiting all week for you! It’s hasn’t been so long since we last hung out–exactly a week, in fact. Still, all those other weekdays just aren’t as much fun as you (Monday’s a total downer and Thursday is a hot mess). You and me, Friday, we are best buds because you always bring your party pal Saturday and the way chill Sunday with you. Let’s hang out all weekend and I know just what we can do: watch new movies! Whether you use Amazon Video, iTunes, Vudu or your cable’s on demand service, there are a lot of new releases out there waiting for you to discover.

Among the new movies to rent this weekend are a  couple of sleeper hits just waiting to be discovered on home video: the horror sequel Happy Death Day 2U and the wrestling dramedy Fighting With My Family. You can now rent both of those films for just a couple bucks each, which will make for a fun double feature if you’re so inclined. Elsewhere on platforms this weekend, you can check out the psychological thriller Greta. Chloe Grace Moretz stars as a waitress whose life is turned upside down when she gets a stalker (Isabelle Huppert as Greta). And if you’re in the mood for some old-fashioned action, the Liam Neeson thriller Cold Pursuit is now ready to rent as well.

What else can you buy or rent this week? Find out by taking a look at the collection of uplifting dramas, wild animated movies, and informative documentaries!

The Upside

A surprise box office hit back in January, The Upside moved audiences to the tune of $122 million worldwide. The film tells the story of a paralyzed bajillionaire (Bryan Cranston) and the friendship he develops with an ex-con (Kevin Hart). Based on the successful French dramedy The Intouchables, The Upside’s all-star cast also includes Nicole Kidman and Julianna Margulies. You can bring this touching story home right now at full price, or you can wait and rent it starting on May 21.

Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Listen: I’m not going to judge you if you choose to watch something other than Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles this weekend, but I’m also not not going to judge you. This animated film features the team-up that we never knew we wanted but now we know we need. The Dark Knight meets the four bodacious brothers in an epic animated adventure that has to be seen to be believed. Plus, the film has a truly bonkers voice cast! Kyle Mooney as Michelangelo! Baron Vaughn as Donatello! Rachel Bloom as Batgirl! Darren Criss as Raphael! What is this movie?! You can’t rent this movie until June 4, but honestly, isn’t this the showdown you want stored in your iTunes library forever?
