Woman Crush Wednesday: Beanie Feldstein Has Comedy in Her Blood

Happy Wednesday! Or maybe should I say Happy Woman Crush Wednesday? However you plan on celebrating be sure to take a minute and give Decider’s lady crush a special shout out. We’ve been crushing on this lady of the week for quite a while and we’re sure you have been too. Give it up for our girl, Beanie Feldstein!

WHO’S THAT GAL: Beanie Feldstein

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: There’s certainly no denying that this lovely lady is having a moment right now. Thanks to her new flick Booksmart, directed by Olivia Wilde, this gal is becoming the talk of the summer. And while we bask in the glory of this new and necessary coming-of-age masterpiece, we can’t forget the film that made us fall for Feldstein in the first place.

Two short years ago Feldstein starred in a little movie called, Lady Bird. Maybe you’ve heard of it? Our woman of the week starred as Julie, best friend to Saoirse Ronan’s Lady Bird. And she totally nailed her performance. We truly could not have asked for a better best friend. Heck, we’re still wishing Beanie was our bestie. And TBH, we would have no problem becoming pals with these fictional personas too!

Comedy is in her blood. Feldstein’s delivery and comedic timing is always spot on, of course, but the best part about her acting is its authenticity. While on-screen, she is the most down-to-earth human. She’s, dare I say, relatable as heck to every person who’s ever been an angsty teenager. And as she’s killing it on-screen she continues to simultaneously make us completely fall in love with her. She is truly one-of-a-kind and her performance in Booksmart is no different. Stars like that don’t come around every day and that’s exactly why we’re so hyped that she will be around to stay.

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Aside from her incredible performance in Lady Bird, Feldstein shines just as bright in her other projects. Recently, she guest starred in What We Do In The Shadows as a young vampire with the power of invisibility. Feldstein also appears in the star-studded comedies Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and The Female Brain.

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: Our girl has some new projects coming your way too. If you haven’t already, go see Booksmart, which is in theaters right now! Feldstein will also be starring in How to Build a Girl, an American-British comedy based on the novel with the same name. Feldstein plays Johanna Morrigan, a teen who moves to London and reinvents herself and becomes a music critic. Currently, How to Build a Girl is in post-production and will hopefully be released within the next year. Feldstein is also set to appear in the new film The Humans.
