‘La Casa de Papel’ (AKA ‘Money Heist’) Returns with Season 3 Trailer

“This time it’s not about the money. This time, it’s about family.” On Monday morning, Netflix dropped the official trailer for La Casa de Papel (aka Money Heist) Part 3, its hit Spanish-language thriller. Judging by the trailer, Netflix’s promise rings true: in Part 3, the group reunites to save Rio (Miguel Herran), a young hacker who helped pull off the original heist on the Royal Mint of Spain.

“We’ve managed to escape, but now comes the most difficult part. Surviving,” says The Professor, aka Salva (Alvaro Morte). Some time after the events of Season 2, Tokyo (Ursula Corbero) appears to be living on a secluded island with Rio, her boyfriend. When the island is invaded by troops, Tokyo escapes, but Rio is taken hostage and tortured by his captors. The trailer shows Tokyo reuniting with The Professor in Thailand, where they hatch a plan to rescue Rio from hostile Spanish forces. “We have to get the team together,” says The Professor, the wheels already turning.

From there, the La Casa de Papel Season 3 trailer turns into an Ocean’s Eleven-type montage of the original heist-mates preparing for their mission. They find new toys (tanks and machine guns abound), craft elaborate 3D models, and blow stuff up left and right, as the Money Heist crew is known to do. “How are we going to rescue Rio?” asks Tokyo. “By making a racket,” replies The Professor.

Of course, there are quite a few surprises in the new trailer, the largest being the shocking return of Berlin (Pedro Alonso), who was shot dead in the Season 2 finale. What’s he up to now? Is he not injured at all? How is he still so handsome? Way to leave us hanging, Netflix.

La Casa de Papel/Money Heist returns to Netflix for its third installment on Friday, July 19. Watch the Part 3 trailer above.
