How’s this for some Monday morning news: Netflix just announced a Magic: The Gathering animated series from the Russo Brothers! That’s a wild headilne, but you read that right. The guys behind the biggest Marvel movies (Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, to name a few) are spearheading the animated adaptation of one of the most (the most?) popular CCG of all time. There are no words to describe the anticipation and excitement–except that’s a lie. There are words, and those words appear in the form of tweets.
We don’t know much about the Magic animated series just yet. So far we only know that Marvel masterminds the Russos are involved, as are Wizards of the Coast (the game publisher behind the card game) and Hasbro’s Allspark Animation. Additionally, Henry Gilroy (Star Wars Rebels) and Jose Molina (Firefly, Star Wars: The Clone Wars) will write and act as co-executive producers. While we don’t know the plot, any characters, or voice actors involved, there’s still plenty for fans to get excited about–and they got excited.
Here are a few tweets from M:TG players old and new alike that capture all the feels.
Keep coming back to Decider for more updates on Magic: The Gathering and in the meantime, keep on playing and tweeting.
