‘A Star is Born’ on HBO: I Demand Bradley Cooper Release the Full Video of Lady Gaga’s ‘SNL’ Performance

I’m so happy that 2018’s A Star is Born is on HBO today, making its TV premiere, because I love A Star is Born. I love Bradley Cooper‘s gravelly voice, I love Sam Elliot’s somehow-even-more-gravelly voice, I love Lady Gaga‘s triumphant “aaaaah-aah-aah-ah-aaaah” into the microphone, and I love Anthony Ramos as the supportive gay best friend. In fact, I love pretty much everything about this film—the third remake of the story, following the 1954 musical and the 1976 musical—except for one thing.

I was very sorry to hear that A Star is Born director Bradly Cooper is currently going through a breakup, and I feel for him, but I’m going go ahead and take issue with him anyhow. Because, for some unknown reason, rather than let us witness Gaga do her thing as Ally Maine performing the absolute banger that is “Why Did You Do That” on Saturday Night Live, Cooper cuts away to a shot of him and Elliot mumble-grumbling off in the corner.

What are they mumble-grumbling about? I honestly don’t even know, because I’m so busy trying to crane my neck to catch Gaga—who, by the way, is looking extremely hot in a bikini top—slay in the background. I repeat: Gaga is slaying in the background of the shot! Honestly, how dare you, Bradley Cooper? First, you try to convince me that this song—again, an absolute banger—is hacky and bad, and now you pan the camera away from Gaga while she dancing? No, this will not stand.

Obviously, Cooper hecked up with this scene in A Star is Born, and he hecked up big time, but he still has a chance to redeem himself. All he has to do is release the full video of Ally Maine’s SNL performance. If he does, I promise I will take his name off my “To Curse” list.

Currently, Gaga herself has a video of the full song on her official Vevo page, but, disappointingly, it too cuts away from the SNL performance less than a minute in.

C’mon Cooper, I know you have the footage! Surely you shot coverage of the complete dance routine, like any good director would? Get to the editing booth and cut together the full video already! Thanks in advance, and sorry once again about that whole breakup thing.

Correction: This story has been updated to accurately reflect Bradley Cooper’s love life; he is not getting divorced, as he was not married.
