‘Broad City’ Star Ilana Glazer’s First Stand-Up Special Is Headed To Amazon

Fresh off the success of Broad City‘s final season, Ilana Glazer is taking her talents to the stage. Today, Glazer announced that she will be taping a new stand-up special, The Planet Is Burning, to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in the coming months. According to Amazon, the Broad City star will be taping the special tomorrow, Wednesday, June 12, in Houston, her final stop on an eight-city headlining tour.

Glazer first shared news of her upcoming stand-up special — her first ever believe it or not — on Instagram. “I am vibrating with excitement,” she wrote alongside two clips of her performing across the country. “Tomorrow marks the end of The Planet Is Burning tour, and we’re gonna shoot it for a one-hour standup special for Amazon Prime Video.” Glazer will be producing the special through her Starrpix banner alongside Comedy Dynamics, the company behind Ali Wong: Baby Cobra, Kevin Hart’s Guide to Black History on Netflix, the Mad About You reboot, and more. “Can’t wait to share The Planet Is Burning, with you,” added Glazer.

Amazon’s The Planet Is Burning is just one Glazer’s many post-Broad City projects. She recently co-wrote and produced the A24 horror film False Positive, in which she stars alongside Justin Theroux and Pierce Brosnan, and will be voicing a character in Ellen DeGeneres’ upcoming Netflix series Green Eggs and Ham. Glazer also has two projects in development at Comedy Central with Abbi Jacobson, her Broad City partner, titled Mall Town USA and Young Professionals. The two recently signed a first-look deal with Viacom, and the series are the first projects created under the pact.

Glazer’s hourlong special will be directed by Ryan Cunningham, another Broad City alum. Nandi Mgwaba, Alison Leiby, Petey DeAbreu, and Comedy Dynamics will produce for Amazon Studios, while Brian Volk-Weiss, Cisco Henson, Kelsie Kiley, and Cunningham will serve as executive producers.

Amazon Prime Video has yet to set a release date for The Planet Is Burning, but you best believe we’ll let you know when they do. Yaaas queen.
