Regina Hall Dreamed About Being a “Playboy Playmate” as a Child: “I Didn’t Know They Took Pictures”

Girls Trip star Regina Hall didn’t always want to be an actress — but she did want to be a Playboy Bunny. On Thursday night, Hall stopped by Showtime’s Desus & Mero to promote her new film, Shaft, and the conversation quickly turned to her childhood hopes and dreams. During the wide-ranging conversation, Hall revealed that when she was six years old, she dreamed of being a “Playboy Playmate,” a job that she believed involved nothing more than “roller skating around a pool” with “glitter” (and with clothes on). Added the actress, “I didn’t know they took pictures.”

After discussing Hall’s time at Fordham University in New York, the Bodega Boys turned the discussion towards her childhood. “What was the first — Regina’s first dream?” asked The Kid Mero. “A Playboy Playmate,” replied Hall immediately. “Cause I was little. I was like, six.” Desus and Mero were shocked — this probably wasn’t the answer they were expecting — but Hall was quick to explain. “They were roller skating around a pool, glitter. Just imagine being six and you think that’s what a Playmate does,” she said.

“They had some special on, and it was like regular,” continued Hall. “And it was showing Hugh Hefner in the mansion, and I was like, oh, that’s what I want to do when I grow up. I want to roller skate around a pool.” She added that as “a little girl,” she believed those were the Playmates’ only job responsibilities. “I didn’t know they took pictures,” she said with a smile.

“So you didn’t know there was nudity involved,” laughed Mero. “But those pictures are tasteful in retrospect,” replied Hall. “Yeah, back in the day they were classy. Then they got a little graphic,” said Desus Nice. “Yeah, ’cause they were better than Penthouse” or other erotic magazines, added Hall.
