On last night’s episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, the HBO host celebrated Father’s Day by berating America’s “asshole dad,” President Donald Trump. The politically-fueled late night comedian had some fun with jokes about Republicans (aka “The Daddy Party”) as well as POTUS’ own parenting skills during the New Rules segment of his show.

“Republicans really see Trump as a father figure,” Maher said. “A strong-but-quiet, strict-but-fair man…who gets up in the morning, puts on two pounds of concealer, inflates his hair, and spends the day tweeting like a mean girl. Atticus Finch? Meet Fatticus Bitch.”

The progressive audience seemed to enjoy the host’s banter as he moved on to the topic of the nation’s lacking infrastructure. “What kind of dad dosen’t take care of simple repairs? You know you’re president who’s let the place go when your wife has had more work done than roads and bridges.”

During his show, Maher made an attempt to be fair by going after the “weak” Democrats as well. On the topic of campaign donations, the host took a controversial stance: “The Republicans take everybody’s money. Steve Wynn was found out, he got ‘Me Too’-ed? ‘Hey we’re keeping the money.’ Harvey Weinstein, [the Dems] gave the money back. Why? His money didn’t rape anybody.”

“The DNC took in $19 million so far this year. The RNC? $61 [million],” he added. “Trump has raised $30 million in the first quarter way before than any of the Democrats. This is another way they’re going to shoot themselves in the foot.”

Another one of Maher’s quality quips of the evening included a mention of MAGA-hat-wearing Kanye West, where the host concluded “Of course he loves Trump. He’s a sucker for a giant ass.”

He also touched on Trump’s relationship with America’s neighbors, stating: “Canada and Mexico, we used to get along great with them. Now they bring the kids inside when they see us coming.”

Finally, Maher pleaded with his “American family,” asking the nation to come to terms with the fact that the ‘Daddy Party’ is the “Asshole Dad Party” now and the patriarchy of it all is a “hot mess.”
