Netflix Unveils ‘GLOW’ Season 3 Trailer: It’s Vegas, Baby!

It’s Vegas, baby! Today, Netflix unveiled the first trailer for GLOW Season 3, and, as expected, this season looks flashier than ever before. The GLOW Season 3 trailer promises new (and old?) romances, new characters (Geena Davis! A love interest for Bash!), additional storylines for the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling ensemble, and maybe even a blackjack ring? Get ready to party in Las Vegas, GLOW style.

At the end of Season 2, the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling took their show off the air and moved to Las Vegas, where they are now headlining a nightly show at the Fan-Tan Hotel & Casino. The entire GLOW team has traveled with them on their journey, including Bash (Chris Lowell), the show’s producer and announcer, director Sam (Marc Maron), and Russell (Victor Quinaz), a camera man and Ruth’s boyfriend. On the surface, things are undoubtedly good for the wrestlers — they’re winning at the casino, they’re selling out shows weeks in advance, and their new entertainment director, Sandy Devereaux St. Clair (Davis), knows what she’s doing — but it soon becomes clear that something isn’t right.

“I have a job. I have a boyfriend. And somehow I still feel lost,” says Ruth (Alison Brie) in the trailer. “Maybe you feel lost because you’re holding yourself back,” replies Debbie (Betty Gilpin). After two seasons of hostility, it’s nice to see Ruth and Debbie, former best friends who broke up after Ruth slept with Debbie’s husband, have a heart-to-heart… or at least something that resembles a positive interaction.

As “Listen to Your Heart” by Roxette plays, the GLOW Season 3 trailer makes it clear that each woman feels unfulfilled in some way. Debbie misses her son, who is living in Los Angeles with her ex-husband, Tammé (Kia Stevens), aka “Welfare Queen,” is combining pills and wine, and Ruth grapples with her complicated feelings towards Sam. The trailer also suggests that Bash’s new relationship with a Fan-Tan entertainer will prompt him to further question his own identity after his friend (and maybe lover) died in Season 2.

“In Vegas, anything glows,” promises Netflix. If the trailer is any indication, that’s the understatement of the century.

GLOW Season 3 hits Netflix on Friday, August 9. Watch the trailer above.
