Bella Thorne Slams Whoopi Goldberg After Nude Photo Hack: “Shame On You, Whoopi”

Bella Thorne vs. Whoopi Goldberg wasn’t the fight we were expecting this week, but here we are. Over the weekend, Thorne posted topless photos on Twitter in an attempt to thwart a hacker threatening to release them online, and by Monday, the issue made its way to the women of The View. The longtime moderator was quick to slam Thorne for taking nude photos — “famous” people “don’t get to do that,” she maintained — but despite her co-host’s attempts to defend the young actress, Goldberg wouldn’t let up. On Tuesday night, Thorne clapped back at Goldberg in a series of emotional Instagram stories, saying, “You’re so crazy for thinking such terrible things on such an awful situation.” Added Thorne, “Shame on you, Whoopi. Shame on you.”

During The View‘s Monday discussion of the nude photo hack, Goldberg came out strongly against Thorne and other stars who send sexy pictures. “If you’re famous — I don’t care how old you are, you don’t take nude pictures of yourself,” said Goldberg. “When they’re hacking you, they’re hacking all of your stuff. So whether it’s one picture or a million pictures, once you take that picture, it goes into the cloud and it’s available to any hacker who wants it. And if you don’t know that in 2019, that this is an issue, I’m sorry, your age does not — you don’t get to do that. You don’t get to do that.”

Goldberg’s remarks generally flew under the radar — likely because her co-hosts, including Meghan McCain, pushed back and prevented a full-on slut shaming moment — but on Tuesday night, Thorne brought them to the world’s attention. After posting a written note to Goldberg, which you can read below, and explaining that she’ll be canceling an upcoming appearance on The View, an emotional Thorne spoke directly to the camera. “I feel pretty disgusting, Whoopi, knowing that everyone’s seen my shit,” she said. “And I just want to say that me watching this interview made me feel really bad about myself. I hope you’re happy. I really do. I really hope you’re so fucking happy, because I can only imagine all of the kids who have their shit released and then they commit suicide.”

“You’re so crazy for thinking such terrible things in such an awful situation,” she continued. “Like, I don’t really want to go on The View anymore because I don’t really want to be beaten down by a bunch of older women for my body and my sexuality. I don’t really feel like that. And so I’m going to cancel my interview because I don’t really want you guys talking about your views to young girls, because I would not want my daughter to learn that. And I would never say that to her.”

Thorne went on to ask that Whoopi whether women “deserve to get raped” if they’re drinking and “on the dance floor,” as the moderator seems to believe that “if you take a sexy photo, then it basically deserves to get leaked.” Said Thorne, “Because to me, I see those two things really fucking similar.”

“Shame on you, Whoopi. Shame on you,” added Thorne. “And shame on you for putting that public opinion just out there like that for every young girl to think that they’re disgusting for even taking a photo like that.”
