Netflix Recommends Best TVs for 2019 Streaming

If Game of Thrones‘ extra-dark Season 8 made you concerned about your television quality, Netflix has just the thing for you. This week, Netflix announced their 2019 television recommendations, a list that helps users identify the best TVs on which to stream Stranger Things, Murder Mystery, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, and beyond. The 2019 list currently features just two televisions, the Samsung QLED 8K and the Sony BRAVIA, that meet Netflix’s strict criteria, but the streaming giant promises that more TVs will be added as they become available for purchase.

Netflix’s 2019 television recommendations list details seven different criteria “designed to bring you a faster, easier, and better viewing experience from beginning to end.” Criteria are divided into three designations, according to Netflix:

Faster:

• Tv Instant On: Your TV wakes up instantly and remembers where you were. Apps are ready to use right away.
• Fast App Launch: Whether you’ve just turned on the TV, or switched from a different app, Netflix always opens quickly.

Easier:

• Netflix Button: Turn the TV on and open Netflix with a single press of a button; it’s that simple.
• Easy Netflix Icon Access: The Netflix app is easy to find and start from the TV menu.

Better:

• Always Fresh: The TV updates in the background, so the latest Netflix TV shows and movies are always displayed.
• High-res Netflix Interface: Get the best experience when browsing in Netflix – with sharper text, clearer images, and the latest functionality.
• Latest Netflix Version: The TV comes with the latest version of Netflix with the newest features.

In order to be recommended by Netflix, television sets must meet at least five of the seven criteria — a high bar, indeed. This year, only two televisions met Netflix’s strict requirements: the Samsung QLED 8K/QLED 4K/Premium UHD/Lifestyle TVs, and the Sony BRAVIA.
