Whatever your escape tactic is, your favorite streaming services have you covered all weekend long.

Today, everyone’s favorite comedian and fluffball will make the leap to television. Known best for his hilarious Netflix specials like Hot and Fluffy and One Show Fits All, comic Gabriel Iglesias stars in his brand-new Netflix sitcom, Mr. Iglesias, which follows the life of a high school history teacher and the shenanigans he gets into while working to inspire his misfit class of kids. We didn’t think Netflix could get fluffier! Once you’ve appeased your funny side, feel free to do a complete 180 and dive into the mind-bending mystery that is Dark season 2. Get sucked back into the twists and turns of this German dystopic thriller as the second part of the time-travel trilogy effectively glues you to your couch for the rest of time (what is time, really?).

If you’re in the mood for a different type of bad guy this weekend, head over to HBO and relish in the charm of the notorious criminal and escape artist Forrest Tucker in The Old Man & The Gun. Robert Redford plays Tucker, the real-life career criminal who became infamous after his successful escapes from Alcatraz in 1956 and again from San Quentin State Prison in 1979. You’ll find yourself rooting for him in the end!

Curious what else is hitting your favorite platforms? Here’s what’s new on streaming this weekend.

Mr. Iglesias

Famously-fluffy comedy legend Gabriel Iglesias is making his sitcom debut on Netflix this weekend. In the new show Mr. Iglesias, Gabe Iglesias (Iglesias) is a public high school history teacher who works tirelessly to help his marginalized–yet very smart– students realize their full potential and save them from being expelled by the bureaucratic assistant principal (Nunez) who is looking to nudge them out. The new live-audience sitcom is set at the real Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, CA and is based on star and executive producer Iglesias’s real high school experiences and his alternative career goal of becoming a teacher. The hilarious and diverse cast includes Oscar Nunez (The Office), Richard Gant (Rocky V), Sherri Shepherd (Trial & Error) and more!  Be sure not to miss the first season of this family-friendly comedy that is sure to make everyone laugh out loud–and maybe even learn a thing or two along the way.

The Old Man & the Gun

Expect to be charmed out of your money this Saturday by Robert Redford in The Old Man & The Gun. The 2018 film is based on the story of famous criminal Forrest Tucker and his life after his escape from San Quentin State Prison in 1979. Tucker (Redford) successfully conducts a string of heists that continue to stump authorities and enthrall the public. Never pulling his gun, the 70-year-old charmer robs bank after bank while maintaining a polite and courteous demeanor to those he is nicely “holding up”! The semi-true retelling follows Tucker as he evades capture by tenacious detective John Hunt (Casey Affleck) and opens up to Jewel (Sissy Spacek): a woman he encounters who falls in love with him despite his profession. Decider reviewer Joe Reid said it best when he noted, “By the time Robert Redford’s career bank robber starts flirting with Sissy Spacek in a quiet little diner by puffing himself up as a stylish, even courteous bank robber, you’d have to be made of the least interesting stone on earth not to feel yourself smile.” Check out his full take on the critically-acclaimed movie here.
