When Will ‘Dark’ Season 3 Premiere on Netflix?

With the premiere of Dark Season 2, Netflix just got a whole lot more complicated. The second season of the streaming giant’s sci-fi drama was more twisting, shocking, and bizarrely incestuous than ever before. And this season’s shocking conclusion has left fans with one question: When will Dark Season 3 premiere?

Co-created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, Dark follows the story of Jonas (Louis Hofmann), a teenage boy who seems to have a normal life. At least that’s the case until his father kills himself, and his ex-girlfriend’s brother goes missing. While trying to figure out why his dad died and solve the mystery around the disappearing Mikkel, Jonas stumbles into a time traveling mystery that has silently defined his entire life. Can he break the cycling paradoxes that define Winden? Or is he destined to relive his insane current history?

And more importantly how and when can you watch Dark Season 3? Here’s everything we know.

Will There Be a Dark Season 3?

This time travel saga isn’t quite over yet. Netflix has already announced that there will be a third and final season of Dark. Maybe that will finally give us enough time to figure out what the heck is happening in this crazy show.

When Will Dark Season 3 Premiere?

Because Dark doesn’t operate on a yearly release strategy, it’s a bit difficult to speculate when its final season will premiere. Netflix first announced that the German sci-fi series would be happening in February of 2016. Twenty-two months later in December of 2017, Dark first premiered. It was quickly renewed for a second season during that same month. Fast forward 18 months, and we’re finally basking in the warped mania of Dark Season 2.

Assuming it takes a minimum of 18 months to construct this complex series, we can likely expect to see Dark Season 3 around December of 2020, at the earliest.

What Could Happen in Dark Season 3?

So much insanity. Get ready for some Season 2 spoilers.

Most of this new season revolved around Jonas’ (Louis Hofmann) battle with the mysterious time traveler Adam. But in a huge twist, it’s revealed that Adam is actually Jonas in the future. Season 3 will likely see the battle between Jonas and his future self evolve. As Adam tries to push the final time loop that will cause the apocalypse, Jonas is trying to break that loop and set everything back to “normal,” whatever that means on this show.
