Reality personality Beth Chapman, wife of Duane “Dog” Chapman, has passed away at the age of 51. CNN reports that Chapman passed away Wednesday morning in a Honolulu, Hawaii hospital, where she had been placed in a medically-induced coma following her battle with throat cancer. Chapman is best known for her role in popular A&E reality series Dog the Bounty Hunter, which followed the star and her husband as they hunted fugitives across the United States.

Duane Chapman confirmed news of his wife’s passing Wednesday on Twitter. “It’s 5:32 in Hawaii, this is the time she would wake up to go hike Koko Head mountain,” he wrote. “Only today, she hiked the stairway to heaven. We all love you, Beth. See you on the other side.” Gillian Sheldon, a family spokesperson, told CNN that the reality star died early Wednesday morning and said that she was surrounded by family at the time.

Chapman and her husband starred in A&E’s Dog the Bounty Hunter for eight seasons. From 2004 to 2012, they hunted down countless fugitives, primarily those hiding out in Hawaii or Colorado, where they have homes (they are both originally from Colorado). According to the Dog the Bounty Hunter website, Chapman was the youngest person to ever receive a bail license in the state of Colorado; that record was later beat by Dog’s daughter Baby Lyssa, one of his 12 children.

After Dog the Bounty Hunter was canceled in 2012, Chapman and Dog starred in CMT spin-off series Dog and Beth: On the Hunt and a two-hour A&E special, Dog and Beth: Fight of Their Lives. The special, which aired in November 2017, followed Chapman’s battle with Stage 2 throat cancer, and according to CNN, culminated in her learning that she was cancer-free. However, the cancer returned in late 2018, and Dog told Us Weekly in December that his wife was again receiving treatment.

“She was a fighter until the very end,” said the family’s lawyer, Andrew R. Brettler. “We’ll miss her terribly and send our deepest condolences to Duane and the Chapman and Smith families.”
