Meghan McCain Slams Drew Barrymore's Cringey "Momala" Moment With Kamala Harris: "Have Some F***ing Respect"
Well, that didn’t take long. On Tuesday night, The View‘s Meghan McCain began clapping back at critics slamming her for bringing up her father, late Sen. John McCain, during a discussion about “torture facilities.” The conservative co-host spared no one in her Twitter takedown, including Stormy Daniels’ former attorney Michael Avenatti, who asked his followers to remind him “what the hell Meghan McCain has ever accomplished in her life.” McCain was quick to fire back, writing, “Coming from the guy who stole 4 million dollars from a paraplegic veteran I consider it a compliment.”
The brouhaha first started on The View Tuesday morning during a Hot Topics segment on the “humanitarian crisis” at the southern border. While McCain said that the conditions in ICE and Border Patrol camps are “horrific,” she also repeatedly slammed those calling the camps “torture facilities.” Said McCain, “I know what a torture facility looks like. I’ve been to one.” She went on to bring up her father, saying, “My father couldn’t lift me above his head as a child because of his torture wounds, so I do think hyperbole is important.”
McCain’s co-hosts, particularly Sunny Hostin, pushed back, but the conservative firebrand wouldn’t have it. “When you have a facility whose specific purpose is to torture people — that is not what’s going on,” said McCain. “Yes, it’s inhumane. But there is a big difference between the Hanoi Hilton and what’s happening at the border right now.”
Almost immediately, McCain began trending on Twitter, where users dragged her for her remarks.
Of course, it wasn’t long before McCain, a big Twitter fan, started responding. She retweeted a post from The Reagan Battalion defending her and urged prominent users to back off. “Slow your roll,” she tweeted at The Hill’s Joe Concha. But McCain reserved her harshest words for Michael Avenatti, who asked what she has “ever accomplished in her life” other than “being born as the daughter to John McCain.” The View co-host responded just 15 (!) minutes later. “Coming from the guy who stole 4 million dollars from a paraplegic veteran I consider it a compliment coming from you,” she said. “You’re gonna rot in in jail for the monstrous, evil things that you have done.”
On a lighter note, McCain also responded to actor Behzad Dabu, who jokingly asked who her father is, with “Al Gore.” Solid comeback.
