‘Instant Hotel’ on Netflix: Get Ready for Season 2 of Australia’s Airbnb Throwdown

The Australian reality sensation is back on Netflix! Instant Hotel Season 2 promises to deliver all the sleeping arrangement drama and shady grading that made Season 1 such a surprise hit earlier this year. Instant Hotel is Survivor meets Stay Here with an Aussie twist, and it is bound to be your favorite summer binge–at least until Stranger Things comes back.

What is Instant Hotel?

Just in case the (Survivor + Stay Here) * Australia = Instant Hotel equation didn’t make it clear here’s what you need to know. Instant Hotel debuted way back in November 2017 in Australia and didn’t hit Netflix internationally until the very last weekend of 2018. The show is structured in two rounds wherein 5 teams of two take turns staying at each other’s Airbnb’s and rating it on location, value, sleep quality, etc. To keep things fair(ish), an impartial judge also weighs in on each house. To make things dramatic, all the guests know how their places were scored. And then they have to travel with each other! There! Are! Spats!

Instant Hotel Season 2 Release Date

Instant Hotel Season 2 drops on Netflix on June 28, 2019. Of course if you’re in Australia, you already experience this surely wild ride earlier this year; Instant Hotel Season 2 aired back in February on Australia’s GWN7. That just means there are probably spoilers out there for all international viewers to avoid!

Instant Hotel Season 2 Cast

Season 2 will feature a new roster of spouses/siblings/friends/parents/etc. all bopping from one Australian city to another, seeing the sites along the way (fingers crossed there are no waste treatment plants in Season 2). Interior design expert Juliet Ashworth returns as the judge for Season 2, but there’s also a new face. British TV personality and design expert Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen (Changing Rooms, House Rules) joins the show as host and judge.

Why You Should Watch Instant Hotel Season 2

Because Drag Race is on hiatus and you need a heavy dose of sassy shenanigans over the July 4th holiday, that’s why. Seriously, though, Instant Hotel is a delightful escape for international viewers because it also shows off Australia in all its weird and wonderful glory. Season 1 took us to Humpty Doo and the Gold Coast and to Barossa Valley and Bondi Beach. Where will Season 2 take us?

How long will it take to catch up on Instant Hotel?

It’ll take you 9 hours and 18 minutes to binge all of Season 1 of Instant Hotel, and I highly suggest you do if you haven’t seen it. You must experience the awkwardness of The Margarita Incident and the delicious villainy of Season 1. But the best thing about a reality competition show like Instant Hotel is that you can jump right in with Season 2!

Instant Hotel Season 2 hits Netflix on June 28.
