You’d better find your library card, because streaming service Kanopy is coming in hot with another slate of new movies. Next month, Kanopy is releasing a stacked lineup of award-winning movies, foreign-language hits, and riveting documentaries, all of which are totally free to stream with your library card or university affiliation. Whether you’re feeling a cinematic classic or something a bit more contemporary, you’re sure to find something amazing to watch on Kanopy in July.
If you’re in the mood for a historical drama, Kanopy has you covered. Next month, the service is releasing Paul Greengrass’ 2002 film Bloody Sunday, which recounts the 1972 “Bloody Sunday” shootings in Derry, Northern Ireland. Greengrass’ depiction of The Troubles, a conflict between Northern Ireland’s Protestant and Catholic citizens from the 1960s to 1990s, was widely praised, and Bloody Sunday went on to win awards at the Sundance Film Festival, the BAFTAs, and the Berlin International Film Festival. Afterwards, don’t miss the underappreciated drama Churchill, starring Succession‘s Brian Cox, John Slattery, and Miranda Richardson. Jonathan Teplitzky’s film isn’t the best-known Winston Churchill biopic that debuted in 2017, but history buffs will no doubt appreciate Churchill‘s contribution to the Prime Minister’s film canon.
